Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

We went to Orlando last night. Loved seeing you. You were great but I would never go again with 4000 people. A big place like that is not for you. I didn’t go thinking you would talk to me, that’s not it. We could hardly hear on 106 area,needless to say up above us and even another area higher was fruitless. Someone has stirred you wrong. 1000 people is too much for what you do. You worked very hard and lost so many. Please reconsider such large crowds. I enjoyed you as a person very much anyway. You are delightful!!
I want to start by saying I love your show and what you do , so my kids dad passed away a year ago and my kids have watched your show with me and my youngest son who is 12 said mom want can’t the Long Island medium come to our house so we can talk to daddy and I told him because we live to far away , he said oh okay but she is a nice lady .
I am writing for my mother in law and also my 9 year old son.My husbands father passed away recently and i think a reading from you would help a great deal.My son has sensory processing disorder and has not been dealing with the death very well.He has recently been put on depression medication to help him with his emotions and to try and help him through.I think if he could hear from him through you it would help a lot and hopefully get him off the medication.

Tanya’s death has devistated her as expected but she does all she can to keep her memory alive… she decorates the pole that the car crash occurred on ALL the time in a beautiful tribute to her daughter… But as her friend, I see the suffering and sadness that never goes away. I have a friend that lost her 11 year old boy in a dirt bike accident. He was a twin that took his parents 5 times to conceive. They are going threw the obviously the worst time of there lives. The day gave him CPR on the track and got his heart started but when they flew him the Fresno hospital he was without oxygen for 20 mins. He broke his neck in half with major internal injuries. He was in life support for 27 hours before his heart stoped. His twin sister is McKenna. And as a 5 year old sister named Hannah. They are a great family and as a friend I’m asking you to give them some peace. We come from a small town we’re everyone knows everyone and this community has came threw to this family but please please consider this beautiful family. They need your help. Dear Theresa, I saw the show where you attempted to change your hair style, but I hate to tell you ,it looked the same. I’m sure that you have been told a million times, that your hairdo, is extremely outdated. When you had the wig on, the longer smoother style really looked good. You looked years younger, and so much more in style. You are such a pretty lady to be wearing a style that is thirty years old…..maybe older. Please, I beg you, do something with your hairstyle. My boyfriend died suddenly of a massive heart attack. He wasn’t even sick. We were not in good terms and fought constantly. His daughter took him to the hospital, I really didn’t think he would die or I would have gone with him. I have no closer. What were his last words, was he thinking of me, his family won’t talk to me. I was not even allowed to be with him. He was creamated and he did not ever want that. Amen
