Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I wanted to contact you about seeing if you can help me find closure. It was almost years ago that my mother passed away. She had been suffering from Lymphoma for 5 years previously and she slowly got worse throughout the years. She Died on July 6, 2007. I was 25 at the time and it was 3 weeks before my wedding. I had changed my wedding date as we werent sure what was going to happen with her. We have never been reallly close but I was extremely upset when she passed. I could see that my mothers passing really affected my father and I asked him to sell his house and come live with me and my husband. He agreed and loved every minute of it. It was towards the end of October 2009 that my dad suddenly took ill. he had started having trouble breathing so my hubby took him to the hospital. He passed away on November 6 2009 leaving me by myself. I constanly thinkg about them all the time and I still can not go to the niche without breaking down into profuse sobbing. I am and only child and I want know if my Parents are safe, happy and looking down on us still. If you could help this would be greatly appreciated.

My name is Lisa. My mother passed away last week (Feb 15)and I am grieving so much. She was my best friend and I am so lost without her. My brother found her on the floor in her room. We don’t know the real cause of her death. She had a Will and made known what she wanted to be done with her possessions. Specific items have came up missing on the day of or the day after her death. I need to know what happened to her and what has happened to those items. I will wait as long as it takes. Dealing with her death has been hard enough. Now having to deal with this too is just too much. Knowing that a member of our own family took these items on the day of or the day after her death is so upsetting. If this happened the day that she died…they had to step over her body to take these items. Please help us to find the answers that we need so that we can be at peace with this. I know exactly what you are going through. Yes, sometimes family members will do that and you will be going through more of it within the next several weeks. Just stay strong, don’t lose faith and keep in mind that pain and lose do strange things to people.

Hi Theresa!!! I think you are WONDERFUL!!!! My Mom passed away on July 4th,2009 of a heart attack. I’m still grieving,but not as much. Would like to know why she gave up on living. Part of my heart is still empty and broken. Feel like a part of me died the day my Mom died. I REALLY need some closure. Truly miss her,and need to know everything. Hi Theresa, my name is Angelica. I have lived the past 16 months in “HELL”. On October 6th 2010, I lost my husband and my best friend. My husband committed suicide leaving me with three children to raise and many unanswered questions. Three months later on Jan 9,2011 my father in-law passed away. I believe he passed because he couldn’t live without his only son. Thirteen months after that my sister passed away and she and I weren’t speaking at the time. My children and I wonder “WHY” every single day of our lives. I’m sure you get thousands of emails asking for help and answers. I am willing to wait how ever long it takes.
