Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hi Theresa. It would b a pleasure. To meet with you.I have some abilities to to dream thine before they happen and get messages and I am still in need of some answers. I have an ex who was abused as a child and both parents are deceased. He has been to therapy but at an older age he has never let go of his dads death or nit being able to tell his mom what or how seeing abuse at a young age made him feel. It is hard for him to live his life and there are areas he’s afraid to open up about. His dream hw had was that his dad came to I’m smoking and told him that there was nothing he could do.

I have lost my husband, father, brother, brother in law and sister in law in less than three years!! I have seven children. Even though I only gave birth to 4. I have helped to raise a dear friend of mine whose name is also Lisa who passsed almsot 12 yrs ago. I should probably be contacting Oprah since our story is sooo crazy but this is not a publicity stunt. I am contacting you because I ended up marrying Lisa’ husband and raiseing her children whom all are grown .(some with kids of thier own) I was thier nanny as babies so I do feel in my heart that Lisa choose me as the second mom for her boys. Need some reassurance from her I did a good job loving and careing for her kids as my own born to me. I will move heaven and Earth to have some time with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Theresa, i just watched your show for the first time today and it would mean so much to me if you could get in contact with me. I lost the man that i love on Aug 8 2005 and i just miss him so much i carry so much pain around with how he passed he was 30 yrs old and he died in his sleep and i just cant move on with the guilt of how he pass and our kids hurt so much our daughter was just 3 and our son was 7.Please could you get in contact with me you really are my last hope to have closure. I just got done watching your show, and I keep tink about my wife and also my mother who pasts away about 6 month after my wife they are both on my mine all the time I feed bad that I wasn,t with my wife when she past,I was with her for the whole year that she was sick, and let her down by not being with her at last I never did tell or show her how much I loved her,I know she is at peace now and isn’t hurting anymore I miss her so much.

This message is not me, but my husband and motherinlaw.My fatherinlaw passed in Oct.2010 it was very sad and wrong for such a strong and honorable man to die in fear and in a sudden way.We would appreciate any closure and relief.

I love your show. I lost my Husband and father of our four children on June 30,2011. He was work when a shelf broke and crushed him. My children and I find comfort in your show. I love that my children can see just because hes gone he is really still with us, and your show just helps to get that message across.
