Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

HI Teresa, I live upstate in Greenville, NY . My parents both passed within a 1 1/2 of each other, My Dad just died Nov. 6, 2011 peacefully. Just would like to know if they are around me & if they are upset about about my 1/2 brothers bringing me to court,saying I took advantage of my dad, this has made me very sad and breaks my heart to think that I was the only one there for my mom & dad before they passed ( I am crying right now writing to you) I need to know how they feel about this PLEASE….my heart is breaking, Sincerely,Laura tx Teresa

Love your show! I have lost my Dad in 1999 of Sept. And never been the same! I’ve also recently has lost my eldest son a year ago which it feels like yesterday!!!!!! I feel so guilty and sad that I can never ever have closure!!!!!! My heart will never be the same but my love is forever, my son is my everything my world and I just don’t comprehend why I have to live without my son! 14 years I have been cryin’ for my Dad and now my tears will never dry for my son, there is no cure for me, life will never be the same, and my heart is broken till I have taken my last breath!!!!!! Why do I have to live with why my SON, why me and why my family! ALOHA, from a mother with a broken heart with no cure and not enough faith!

Hello Theresa, love you show. I do have a bit of a problem with a spirit that has been in this house over 100 years, and I have only owned it for 10. I have tried talking to her to get her to cross over, following a lot of instructions I get from the internet. She will not leave. I have seen a round mist that blew up to a large star when it came in touch with me by surprise I suppose. It flew off to another room only to return and come close to my shoulder, and my left leg felt frozen. She keeps me awake at night with a static and voices, popping and several noises. She want to commnicate with me I know, but I just want her to leave. I am stressed out. Can you tell me if she is still here, and what I can do? She told a medium that she was 25 years old, born in Ireland in 1886, and is waiting for someone, and is very sad. This is all that I got. Thank you very much.
