Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I have like everyone, lost people in my life. I need answers to some very important questions, concerning what I should do with my life in the future. There are alot of questions and concerns that I have had answered, but, my medium has retired and I’ve been pretty lost until I saw you on Andersen Cooper’s show, which I did not even know existed until today. i have to add, i havent been back to her gravesite in 25yrs. i think i coule turn my life around and be at peace if i knew these few things that have never been answer. my papaw whistled all the time and my nanny sang all the time. My best friend was a beautiful,wonderful and giving person. i just want to know if these people are ok. esapecially My deceased best friend, people that knew her well family and friends always worried there was foul play. thats why the screaming I heard that day, stays with me and worries me for her. i have watched your TV show and absolutely think you are the real deal. I live in sherman,tx. I have always felt that my loved ones watch over me. And wish I knew how my grandparents are. my papaw and nanny were like my second parents. and took care of us when my father would be overseas when the Viet Nam war was going on. Just recentkly a cousin whom in childhood and my early asdulthood we were very close, passed recently. my life has always been turmultious,mindnumbing,and i cant remember my childhood or hardly anything that went on in it from bout 11 yrs old and down. I miss my deceased relatives and a one certain friend of mine, who had a head on collision while in car with four strangers and only operson to die in accident. All friends and family never could figure it all out. i visited her grave and the minute i stepped up to it…i heard pretty much screaming…it scared me and i want to go back. but not alone. i still feel like i hear her or the screaming i heard that day alot. I she was my best friend and I was in Georgia when she died. couldnt get to her funeral. i never stop hearing the screaming. i cant afford to travel and and see you but if you are ever in Texas. Therasa all i can say is WOW i love what you do! I lost my son, It will be 13 years ago in May. And i cant move on, I have 3 beautiful dautghers but i have such an empty hole. There are days go by that i dont smile. I believe my marrige of almost 20 years is just about over. I need this more than you know or maybe you do!!
