NBC’s Brian Williams interviews Boston Marathon bombing survivor Jeff Bauman

Boston Marathon bombing survivor Jeff Bauman met with NBC News’ Brian Williams for his first television interview since the attack nearly three months ago that cost Bauman both of his legs above the knee. Bauman had been at the finish line of the race to cheer on his girlfriend at the time of the blasts, and is now learning to walk again on prostheses.

In the interview, Jeff Bauman tells Brian Williams that he remembers seeing Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev at the finish line and provided a description of him to authorities, including the backpack he says Tamerlan left behind.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was eventually killed in a shootout with police, while his younger brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, another Boston Marathon bombing suspect, was set to make his first court appearance today, his first appearance in public since he was hauled bleeding from a boat in April.

Brian Williams also spoke with Carlos Arredondo, known as the “man in the cowboy hat” from an iconic photo taken of Arredondo helping save Jeff Bauman’s life the day of the attack.

Jeff Bauman’s interview with Brian Williams will air Wednesday, July 10, on NBC Nightly News, and on TODAY the morning of Thursday, July 11. NBC says additional web-exclusive material will be available on NBCNightlyNews.com and NBCNews.com.

  1. Wouldn’t somebody’s who’s legs got blown off a few months ago still be red and scared… Hmmmmmmm

  2. THAT’S ALL you have to say??? That he “appeared” to not watching the Marathon and was alone?? I thought you didnt see him until he ALLEGEDLY dropped the backpack at your feet? Im sorry but this just sounds so freaking flakey and “media instilled”……You have been “Mr Popular Hero” for 3 months now and now you dont seem like you cant put a sentence together….WOW!
