Recaps of The Bachelor two-part special, Chris goes on hometown dates

This week featured threcap of episode 1 of The Bachelor Chris Soulesree episodes of The Bachelor beginning with a “Chris Tells All,” which would have been more appropriately titled “Chris, Kelsey and Andi Tell All” on Sunday night, followed by the girls visiting Chris Soules’ hometown of Iowa, and Monday night’s episode that found Chris visiting four of the girls’ hometowns. Here we break it down for you …

>>Chris Tells All
(Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015)
“Am I really that controversial?”
Yes, Kelsey. You are.
Chris Harrison wastes no time with the psycho and actually comes out and asks her if she thinks she is better than all the other girls. She does, made obvious by her snarky remarks on the lack of intelligence in the house, but she denies the accusations by fluttering around the subject stating that her “flippant comments [were] misconstrued as condescending.”
Kelsey, nothing was misconstrued here; you are certifiably insane.

“That’s not something you want to see.”
Chris calls out Chris for a tell-all interview. On the subject of the infamous two-on-one date, Chris admits that he “[knows] less about women than he thought,” and that “his decisions [to send the girls home] were not based on that specific situation.”
Chris also discusses my favorite character of the season: Ashley S. the most insane girl to ever be on TV. Wow – was Ashley S. entertaining – but insane, really insane. Chris claims he didn’t know the craziness until the Zombie date (where she asked if she could shoot the other girls), then he knew there was something off.
Yes Chris, there was something really off about that chick.
Chris Harrison reveals that Ashley S. took a liking to late night walks around the crew area and even speculated that there was a betting ring betting on the winner of The Bachelor. O.K. Ashley S. and Kelsey should room together in the mental ward. #sorrynotsorry.

Andi_Dorfman“I knew.”
Andi Dorfman, last season’s bachelorette (and one of my favorites), shared the details of her tragic split from Josh. I’m not a sentimental person, but Andi talking about her love for Josh – even after their tough split – which really touched my heart. Andi could hardly speak, and she confessed, through the tears, that “[she] will always love him (Josh),” and that she “never experienced a love like that,” her “first love and first true heartbreak.” I still love you Andi!

>>The Bachelor, Episode 8: Iowa recap (Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015)
To begin the night, Meagan asks to speak to Chris about the status of their relationship. Mutually, the pair decides that their relationship is not progressing as fast as the others, and Meagan is sent home. I hope she can find her way home.
He then invites the remaining ladies to dream-location Iowa! Yay. Not even the best state in the Midwest. Honestly, if I were on this season I would feel pretty jipped in the trip department.
Bachelor_Jade_2_recaps_of-the-bachelor
Jade (pictured above) starts the slue of dates for the week with a one-on-one in farm boy Chris’ hometown of Arlington, Iowa. Just riveting! As Jade approaches the small town, she expresses her surprise when she sees lots of corn, wild grass and the occasional cow.
I would literally crawl out the window and never look back.

Bachelor_Jade_1Nevertheless, Jade gets a taste of what Chris’ life is like walking thought the deserted town of Arlington, which is home to no bars, no restaurants and no movie theaters – the ideal social scene. Chris then takes Jade to a local football game and introduces the hopeful wife to his parents. Jade and Chris make out across from Chris’ old English classroom and Jade hints that she may have a more rebellious past, but she quickly ends that discussion. Overall, the date was nice and so Midwestern (AKA boring) and not very Bachelor-like.
Next on the agenda, Chris takes Whitney on another not-very-notable date. The couple takes pictures around Des Moines to display their love and then grab dinner. At dinner, Chris runs into his buddies (he has friends?) and the three buddies grill Whitney. Whitney wins them over with her annoying friendliness, where she rates herself at the end of the night, saying: “I think I passed.”
While Chris was away with Whitney, the girls express their concern about the size of Chris’ hometown, and decide to trek all the way to Arlington to see what the town is really like.
Upon arriving to the desolate town, the girls faced an expectations-versus-reality moment. One girl even said, “Did we pass downtown?” Chris wasn’t kidding when he said small town.
Back at the house, Jade confides in Carly (ew Carly) about her past experiences modeling nude for Playboy. Yeah, you heard me … nude for Playboy. Our sweet little jade doesn’t seem so sweet anymore. Carly hardcore judges her (typical Carly) and tells Jade that Playboy equals immediate judgment. Great friend, great confidant, wish I had her as a friend… NOT.
Carly, Kaitlyn and Britt then take on an ice-cold group date. It’s not secret that Carly has it out for Britt, but when Carly tattletales on Britt for not really liking Chris’ hometown, she crosses a line. Carly is that little pathetic girl on the playground that tells on all the other kids to make herself look better. Can you tell I’m not a fan of the cruise ship singer?

Opinions aside, Chris considers the information and later confronts Britt about it. Britt tells Chris that she actually fell in love with his hometown, kind of coming off a little fake, but, she sways Chris in her direction yet again.
Chris then has a heatfelt conversation with Kaitlyn, who feels very unsure about the status of her relationship with Chris. Chris consoles here and assures that they are headed in the right direction by giving Kaitlyn the rose.
Aaaand that’s where Britt loses it. Britt begins to really criticize Chris’ decision in front of the two other girls, turning the date into an awkward fight club.

>>The Bachelor, Episode 9: Hometown Dates recap (Monday, Feb. 16, 2015)
Becca, the quiet beauty, goes on the first date of night. The pair has a very comfortable and low-key date, sharing past love experiences and growing closer. Becca shares that she has never really been in love and Chris respects that, saying, “Sitting here with Becca I realize she has never really been in love and that really doesn’t matter to me.”
Chris also claims that he wants to be the “first person she falls in love with and maybe the last,” a cute thought from kissing-machine Prince Farming.

Then, back at the hotel, Britt shares her decision to go home and Carly attacks her (of course she is as mature as a 12-year-old). By the end of the night, Britt decides to leave, which broke my heart (love Britt) and Carly goes home (good riddance!).

Here come the hometown dates!

Becca:
Chris spends a nice evening with Becca’s cute family and Becca’s sister shared interesting details with Chris about Becca’s lack of intimacy with previous men. Chris seems a little taken aback when her family says that she never has had the urge to be close with a man before (weird statement), but overall her family gave off a warm and welcoming vibe, which positively reflects the trueness of Becca’s intentions.

Whitney:
Chris goes to Chicago to meet Whitney at her work, the fertility center. Whitney plays an awkward prank on Chris, and jokingly asks him to give a sperm sample. Super weird and not really that funny. Minus one for Whitney. Since her mother has passed, and her father is not involved in her life, Whitney takes Chris back to her nontraditional family. Whitney’s sister becomes very protective and even asks Chris to “call me when you think [Whitney] is the one.” Sassy.

Kaitlyn:
Chris rapping. Enough said. Other than the failures of the farm rapper (it was bad, I’ll spare you the details), Chris melded well with Kaitlyn’s family. Kaitlyn’s mom really stole the show for me because she was such a cute little diva, and I want to hang out with her. Maybe it’s a Canadian thing. At the end of the night, Kaitlyn surprises Chris with a “Kaitlyn hearts Chris” sign and they share a cute little moment together.

Jade:
HAHA Jade’s family. They literally embody the basic white Nebraskan family stereotype — too good to be true. Jade’s brothers hint to Chris that their sister is a “wild mustang,” and they send off some red flags in Chris’ mind. Later, when Chris asks Jade what they meant about her wild “mustangedness” she admits to him that she posed nude for Playboy, and Chris seems kind of into it. He said, “I saw her completely out of her shell.” Keep it in your pants Chris.

The cocktail party ends in tears, as Jade is sent home. Chris seems rather distraught, and with tears in his eyes, he ponders if “[he] could be making a huge mistake.”
