At the Turner Upfront presentation this morning, during the TBS portion, a teaser for former Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee’s upcoming late-night, issues-oriented series poked fun at the preponderance of men on the late-night TV scene.
The teaser finds Bee at an art gallery, looking at pictures of hosts like Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Carson Daly, John Oliver and newcomer James Corden. Bee admits that she likes looking at each picture individually, but upon stepping back, it seems to her like something is missing.
Driving home the point that late-night TV is basically a “sausage fest,” a waiter appears with a huge plate full of sausage. He offers her different types, and as he describes each one, from “mild” (Fallon), to “extra mild” (Daly) to “no idea what that one is” (Corden), a shot of a particular male host is spotlighted.
Bee then realizes that she’s actually tired of sausage, and a voiceover announces that Samantha Bee is coming to TBS late night.
“And I am female as fuck,” Bee finishes, with a laugh, after nudging the waiter aside.
