This week’s episode of The Whispers, titled “Hide & Seek,” is all about the hunt for more clues into understanding everybody’s new favorite imaginary friend Drill and finding the mysterious John Doe, Sean Bennigan (Milo Ventimiglia).

However, before we move forward, a flashback is given from three months earlier in the Sahara Desert where a kid is playing with a toy truck. He witnesses a flash of fire in the sky, and of course, goes to investigate (that’s never a good idea.). He follows the light where he finds Bennigan’s nametag and giant footprints (Godzilla? T-rex of Jurassic Park fame?). We leave the scene with as he screams in fear of whatever he sees before him.
Bennigan’s wife Claire (Lily Rabe) is still investigating her husband’s possible survival from a plane crash and Drill’s impact on children. She confronts Henry about his new friend. Lights flicker and microwave goes off with numbers 111215 on timer screen (A clue?). The doorbell rings, but nobody is on the other end.
Sean, still looking fresh off of the Lost island, walks through a park to find clothes and other belongings in a tree. He then goes to a storage unit with article clippings and photographs regarding mysterious deaths.
Meanwhile Wes Lawrence (Barry Sloane) shares a Full House moment with his daughter Minx, telling her everything is going to be okay and that they are still a family, even though he cheated on her mom Lena with Claire. The Whispers‘ own Danny Tanner gives his little girl some currency from his travels to add to her collection on a world map.

Throughout the episode, Wes continues piecing together what happened with the plane crash with his fellow Department of Defense cohorts. We find out Sean was testing some kind of weapons. Footage from the plane going down reveals a person or thing or creature appearing from the fulgurite after the crash.
Claire goes with her partner back to the hospital to further question Harper about her mom, who is fighting for her life after falling through the tree house floor. The girl isn’t much help, saying Drill tells her not to talk to Claire. She won’t even talk to Dr. Benavidez. Harper sees her mom not doing so hot and tells Drill he promised he would help her. She asks what she should do next.
Minx, fellow member of the Drill club, tries to recruit her friend for a new game. She gives her the jump drive to print Wes’s restricted files. Sure enough. Investigators come out to Wes’s house after files were accessed at his house. Minx overhears her parents fighting and admits to being the culprit. At the end of the episode, Minx walks the streets in her PJs as the neighborhood lights flicker. Her final destination is a playground, where she looks at the printout of a secret map.
Sean takes Dr. Benavidez’s keys and wallet to break into her house. The first thing he does is find a gun and take a shower. There are tattoos on his body, which aren’t skulls — or Muppet characters. They are more like symbols. During his shower, he has some sort of vision, which causes him to grab a marker to draw what he saw. Claire tracks him to the house and chases him down the street. Wes is alerted to Claire’s whereabouts and follows her in his car. Claire never reaches Sean, but gets a good look at him before he disappears.
While mommy is away, grandma babysits Henry, who is watching a show. He tells the TV to use the map. The grandmother asks him who he is talking to because she said she heard someone. The TV is turned off and then comes back on after the adult leaves. Henry apologizes to Drill and says he knows it’s supposed to be a secret. He blindly stares at the static on the screen (Poltergeist much!?).
The episode ends with Sean in the back of Dr. B’s car. He points a gun to her head, saying there is something he that needs to do and she is going to help him. Meanwhile, the symbol he drew on the floor of the bathroom from earlier is discover by Claire — and is now the latest tattoo on Sean’s arm!
I’ll admit I’m glad I don’t have children because they would creep me out after watching The Whispers.
