Naked and Afraid announced a spinoff of one of it’s most popular series that has me happier than a mosquito in a blood bank! The new series, Naked and Afraid XL will premiere July 12 and feature six women and six men who’ve already appeared on Naked and Afraid. But this time, instead of a brave twosome heading into an unrelenting environment to survive for 21 days, a dozen bad-asses will head into Colombia for 40 days of roughing it, naked style.

(New York, NY) – What do you get when you multiply Discovery Channel’s monster survival hit “Naked and Afraid” by six? A survival challenge unlike any other survival challenge attempted before.
Twelve of the smartest, most dynamic survivalists – all who have conquered the ‘Everest’ of survival challenges on Naked and Afraid – have been assembled to take on what could possibly be an almost un-survivable situation. The women include: Alana Barfield (Fiji Islands), Dani Beau (Colombia), Honora Bowen (Brazil), Dani Julien (Andros Islands), Eva Rupert (Madagascar) and Laura Zerra (Panama and the Amazon). The men include Chris Fischer (Dominica), Hakim Isler (Himalayas), Shane Lewis (Costa Rica), Luke McLaughlin (Namibia), E.J. Snyder (Tanzania and the Amazon) and Jeff Zausch (Madagascar).
Discovery will air a Naked and Afraid marathon to reintroduce the audience to this dynamic cast of survivalists on Saturday, June 28th beginning at 10:00am ET.
Naked and Afraid XL is a 40 day challenge, making it exponentially more difficult than anything that’s ever been tried in the past. These six women and six men, all extreme survivalists with their own expertise, will find themselves stranded in a very remote equatorial jungle of Colombia. They will have no food, no water, and no clothing. But this time, there will be 12 survival experts all vying for the same limited resources. At its core, Naked and Afraid XL is both a survival and societal challenge. How will these survivalists respond to each other? Will they band together as one large group or will they break apart into smaller groups to survive? In a challenge this big – the survivalists will need to master the environment to make it out alive.
Naked and Afraid XL is an intense survival experiment that will truly test the limits of human endurance. These 12 survivalists have proven that they have physical and mental strength, endurance, intelligence, a fantastic survival skillset, and the will to survive in some of the harshest environments on the planet. Honora bat s**t crazy! Alana and Danielle are just stupid, and lazy. You don’t release food in a survival situation! I don’t think I’ve ever heard of any kind of native being vegetarian. Meat is a natural part of the human diet! B I can understand why he’s pissed, they’re lazy. I couldn’t stand those girls! Alana was the worst thinking she’s better than him, total bitchy flaw in her character. I didn’t like Dani either because she didn’t say one word to defend him!! I kept waiting for her to stand up to that bitch Alana, but she just sat there tight lipped. I could’ve never treated someone like that. The last episode showed Alana’s true character when she didn’t want to share the gamin with EJ & Jeff. That was pretty pathetic. If you keep treating people that way, all of that negativity will come back to you and karma’s a bitch.
I feel that the girl who threw away the survival equipment and acted like a spoiled brat should be put up on attempted murder charges. In survival there is not time or energy for how you feel you survive and work to do that. I was so upset with her actions . I think a 7 yea old would do better. She needs to be on the Diva show.

The only genuine survival expert on DC’s choreographed survival shows is Matt Graham. The rest are $6 bills (twice as phony as $3 bills). TV star Bear Grylls is a joke!

Discovery!!!??!!! How low is the psychological plumbline that factors into being contender? I’m seeing two participants who are bat $&/! crazy. One sabotaging her team was the most disgusting. But not far behind is a guy who can’t get over himself. Day 7 out of 40? I just hope everyone survives those two. Forget the elements. Discovery! Shame on you!!!

These cats are trained survivalist with everything that can be used around them as a tool or a weapon. What is taking them so long. They need to get with the program. To the three females, I say kudos to the 3 of y’all doing what you have to in order to survive.

Darin was the best survivalist I have seen, why was he not brought back ????? Especially with this group on XL, he should have been with them. That EJ guy is a great survivalist also, and even though that Shane guy seems odd I have to give him credit climbing that tree, that was hard to do and he got up there.

I agree that Darrin was fantastic. I hope that the XL series does well ratings-wise so he can be brought back for a future season. I was glad to see AK come back for a shot at redemption; if the show decides to give more non-finishers another shot, I’d love to see Julie Wright (tapped out after her partner Puma got sick in Season 1) and Vincent Pinto (who had a large skill set and a huge ego, but got sick in Bolivia). And other favorites of mine that I’d love to see on XL (in addition to Darrin), Fernando the firefighter who was so calm and supportive!! And I really liked Ryan from this season’s Everglades adventure; he seems like an incredible guy.
