On this episode of Devious Maids, Zoila and her sister Reina still aren’t on good terms. Since Zoila is such an independent woman, she’s having a hard time being handicapped by her crutches. That’s why, when it comes to bringing in the groceries, Zoila has her hands full while on her crutches instead of asking her sister for help. However once the bags rip — sending the food flying to the floor, she ends up calling out for Reina’s help. Reina is supposed to be taking care of her which makes it odd when Zoila doesn’t hear a response from Reina. Zoila finds Reina up to her high-school act of sneaking around with guys, as she’s making out with a maintenance guy. Unbelievable! Zoila threatens to kick her sister out again but Reina tells Zoila that she can’t leave because that’s what the doc ordered. At that moment, a lightbulb goes off in Zoila’s head. She makes a call to Genevieve’s hotel in Greece and leaves a message with the front desk — tell Genevieve she needs to come home due to an emergency. She isn’t technically lying since there was an emergency with Zoila falling. Plus, Zoila needs a true friend around to take care of her since her own family can’t seem to do so.
Things seem to be going pretty well for Marisol and Jesse — the two wake up in bed together. Jesse even invites himself to attend a charity event with Marisol since Zoila can’t attend anymore. The way Jesse acted by basically inviting himself started sending warning signals for me. Marisol tried to tell him how boring these events are but again and again Jesse would push to get his way in. He tries to say that he wants to spend more time with her and that he wants their relationship to be more than just sex, but I’m not buying all of that just yet. I think Marisol feels the same way and is still unsure of her feelings. That’s probably why she was pushing him off to go with her to the event in the beginning. I just hope this is me being paranoid and that Jesse doesn’t turn out to be a bad guy!
Rosie goes over to Ernesto’s to let him know that she’s left Spence and found a job working with a family that will allow Miguel to also live there. Ernesto tells Rosie that they should just live together but she’s worried that they’re different people since the time they lived together. Rosie tells him that she needs to take things slow, but is pretty quick to take Ernesto up on his offer for a dinner date night at his place. At Rosie and Ernesto’s dinner date, things get hot during desert. Looks like Rosie isn’t interested in taking things slow anymore. Will this woman ever choose one man?
Evelyn meets with an adoption agency, but it’s pretty clear she has no idea how this process works. When the agent asks Evelyn what age group she’s interested in, Evelyn replies by saying “whatever you have in stock or in the back — wherever you keep them.” Sounds like she thinks this adoption agency is an outlet filled with children. Evelyn then proceeds to make things worse by telling the agent that she has a facial at four and would like to leave before then with her child. You would think someone with that much money would have a better education on adoption. Let’s just say Evelyn isn’t too happy to find out that this whole adoption process could take up to a year. For whatever reason she’s really desperate to get a baby, quick.
Since Rosie is now working for the Stappords, she tries to connect with Katy more by showing her a game she used to play when she was a little girl in Mexico. It’s sort of like patty cake but the words are in Spanish. As Rosie is teaching Katy the words to the song, Katy finishes the song all on her own. Rosie is shocked when Katy tells her that she used to play the game a lot before she came to live with the Stappords. Rosie questions how Katy could know the game if it’s a Mexican game and Katy is supposedly from Argentina. That’s when Katy shuts down and tells Rosie she’s not interested in playing anymore. Looks like Katy let one slip and I think Rosie picked up on it.
Finally, we get to see Blanca and she’s alive! However, I’m not sure how much longer she’ll be alive by the looks of her new living environment. We see a man covered in black clothes making their way down into a basement with food for Blanca. She’s tied up to a mattress in some dark basement alone and begging for her freedom. When the unidentified person comes downstairs she tells them she doesn’t know anything or know who they are. She just wants to be free again and won’t tell anyone if she’s let free. Looks like that isn’t going to work out for Blanca just yet since the man went up the stairs without showing his face or saying a word. Poor Blanca, all she wanted to do was get a job to help pay for her college. I hope this never happens to me!
Carmen overhears Evelyn on the phone talking to Sebastien about finding a home that’s kid-friendly. When Carmen hears that they might be adopting, she tries to convince Evelyn to think otherwise. Carmen says she speaks about her concerns only because it will be hard on the Powells, but I bet it’s just because she doesn’t want to have more housework and have to deal with a kid. I can’t blame you there, Carmen. Carmen then tells Evelyn about Zoila being pregnant and how miserable her life is now that she’s become pregnant again. You can see a lightbulb go off in Evelyn’s head and I don’t like the idea she’s come up with. I hope Zoila won’t let Evelyn take her baby away. Just wait like everyone else, Evelyn!
Yay, Genevieve is back! At first she thinks Zoila is all alone with her ankle messed up, but of course Reina makes herself known. Genevieve questions Zoila why she had to fly across the world to come back home if Zoila’s sister was there to take care of her. Zoila tells her that she’s been more of a sister to her than Reina’s ever been. Even if Zoila sort of lied to get Genevieve to come back, you know these two have such an amazingly strong bond — I love it! Zoila immediately gets down to business by asking Genevieve to make Reina leave. Zoila thinks it would be a lot easier if the owner of the house demanded Reina to leave than her own sister. Genevieve agrees that she’ll handle everything.
Carmen performs at a local pub in the hopes of yet again becoming a star. Things were off to a rocky start since it appeared that no one from any industry was there to see her spectacular performance. That is until one scout comes up and tells Carmen that he wants to make her a star. You go, Carmen, you finally made it! Carmen seems hopeful during her first visit at the record company until she meets with the president of the record company, who also happens to be Sebastien’s wife. Uh oh! When Carmen tells Sebastien about this, she finds out that he was behind the whole thing. When he found out about Carmen’s performance he had an assistant send out a scouting agent because he knew everyone would like her. He tells Carmen it’s all a part of his plan, because once she becomes a star, they won’t need his wife’s money anymore, because they’ll have Carmen’s. She tells him that his plan is terrible and she’s not going through with it. I’m glad Sebastien’s plan doesn’t involve murder, like I thought it would, but this plan isn’t the smartest plan either. Carmen goes to meet with the president of the record company to tell her that she’s not interested in signing. However after the president tells her how she wouldn’t be a star if she lets something get in her way, Carmen wants to prove her wrong and signs.
Genevieve takes Reina out to a swanky lunch to try and ease the pain of kicking her out. Reina is one smart cookie because she automatically catches on to what Genevieve is trying to do. That’s when Reina twists things around on Zoila and makes her seem like the bad guy. She tells Genevieve that Zoila was talking bad about Genevieve the entire time she was gone and how selfish Zoila is. She then starts her sob story of how she’s homeless because she’s going through a divorce and has no money and can’t believe Zoila would be so selfish to throw her out. Genevieve feels for Reina once she starts crying and lets her stay. She played you big time, Genevieve.
Just like I thought, Evelyn stops by to visit Zoila and tries to play it off like they’re friends at first. She gives Zoila a cashmere baby blanket, which can only be dry-cleaned. Again, this shows just how little Evelyn knows about babies. That’s when Evelyn asks Zoila if she could help make her life easier by adopting her baby for a fee. Zoila laughs at her proposal and verifies that her baby will never be for sale. She tells Evelyn if that’s what she wants then she’ll need to find someone more desperate than her. Evelyn listens to Zoila’s advice and seems like she’ll be finding that more desperate person next. Evelyn is really desperate for this baby and she’s found the person desperate enough to get her what she wants. She bribes the adoption agent with some extra cash in order to get her application to the top of the list. I guess you could call that sneaky donating too?
Marisol has a potential customer come over, but she’s not interested in the exact type of maid service that Marisol thought she was. Turns out the lady thought Marisol was an escort because Gail told her Marisol was paying Jesse for sex. Whoops, guess that one is kind of true in a way. After thinking about what Gail told her, Marisol fires Jesse. She tells Jesse that she wants to see where their relationship goes which means she can’t have him hired as her maid. She doesn’t want him to think of her as his boss and she doesn’t want to think of him as her maid because they’re more than that. Jesse doesn’t seem to mind getting fired but wants to clear things up that he quit instead. Jesse took that surprisingly well. Maybe Gail was wrong about Jesse only dating Marisol for the money.
Zoila sets up a plan to catch her sister and show Genevieve how bad she really is. Zoila tells Reina that she and Genevieve will be gone the entire night for some reservations that she made so Reina will have to be left all alone in the big house. Reina seems thrilled but doesn’t show it too much. Zoila and Genevieve return home early from their dinner and Zoila is ready to find her sister messing everything up. Sure enough, a naked guy walks past Zoila and Genevieve and he’s shocked as to why they’re there. He tells them that it’s Reina’s house and things only get worse when Reina comes from around the corner dressed in Genevieve’s fur drinking pink champagne. Genevieve tells Zoila she’s so sorry she didn’t listen to her before and immediately kicks Reina out. Reina figures out that Zoila set her up and promises to never see her again. It was kind of harsh to set up her own sister like that but if Reina isn’t helping out and only causing more problems, I would want her thrown out too.
Rosie catches Katy lying about being from Argentina again. When Rosie presents Katy with a chili mango lollipop Katy is thrilled to see it. She’s got you caught, Katy, because those are a traditional Mexican candy — I grew up with those myself. Rosie tells her that they don’t have those in Argentina and knows that she had to have grown up in Mexico. Rosie tells Katy that she’s good at keeping secrets and gains her trust. That’s when Katy gives Rosie a present, Blanca’s necklace. Rosie questions where she found it and Katy tells her in the hallway in her home. Rosie is confused as to why Blanca would leave that necklace behind when she loved it so much. Detective Rosie is on the case!
Blanca was able to break the food tray that was presented to her earlier so that the metal part is exposed for her to use as a way to cut the ropes restraining her. She finally sets herself free and walks out of the basement. When she opens the door at the top of the basement, she finds an eerie shrine dedicated to Louie Becker. There are candles, photos, news clippings, and even a tennis racket for Louie. As she’s stunned looking at that, the masked man comes up from behind her and knocks her out with something covering her mouth. Why can’t Blanca ever catch a break?
Sebastien shows Evelyn a home that is kid-friendly, but unfortunately not in the richest of the rich neighborhoods — you poor thing. Once they enter the home, Evelyn questions why a home that grand would be at such a good price. I think I know the answer to that question because the house looks pretty familiar. Sure enough, Evelyn finds yet another dead body. This time it’s poor Blanca hanging from the ceiling. Why did Blanca have to die?! I had high hopes for her! It looks like the killer set the scene up to be a suicide because on the floor below her it says “FORGIVE ME” in red lipstick. No one better fall for this because Blanca wouldn’t kill herself!
What are your thoughts on this episode of Devious Maids jam-packed with information? Do you think what Zoila did to her sister was wrong? Try and put yourself in that situation and I’m sure your answer will vary. Will Marisol and Jesse last now that she’s fired him? I think I need to learn a bit more about Jesse and his background and so does Marisol. Since Ernesto and Rosie hooked up does that mean they’re together now? Would you have taken the record deal if you were in Carmen’s situation? My advice to Carmen is put yourself and your career before any guy! What the heck happened to Blanca?! Do you think she really hung herself? Who the heck is Louie Becker?! I need answers! Leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
Devious Maids airs Mondays at 9/8CT on Lifetime.

Blanca is killed because she knows the truth about what had happened inside Taylor’s house at that particular night the dead body had found in the living room. Apart from Taylor and Blanca; nobody else knows about that night tragedy. I guess Taylor sets up Blanca’s murder. I also guess that man behind the mask could have been Jesse. Taylor is paying him to get rid of Blanca…. if that is the truth then poor Marisol… thinking Jesse is genuine and honest to her. That little Katie is no doubt originated from Mexico. She could have been Ernesto’s daughter with another Mexican lady…lol.. who knows. Zoila will find out soon enough that it was Carmen who told Evelyn Powell about her pregnancy. Sebastian was showing Evelyn Powell a big house; that house could have been Sebastian and her wife’s house. Bad thing happened when Evelyn saw Blanca’s body hanging. I stated earlier that it was Jesse who did that; Taylor paid him for. But who the heck is Louis Becker? What’s his story line about..?? Is Adrian Powell behind that murder..?? lol.. who knows.
Don’t forget that Zoila’s sister slept with her husband and then had the audacity to apoligize, not for the act, but that her sister found out. A true user! Zoila did the right thing. Hate that Blanca was killed, they could have done so much more with her, loved her on Glee! I see Rosie’s dilemma, sexy Spence or really sexy Ernesto. Don’t know about Jessie either, hope he’s a good guy but… Love Evelyn and Carmin and their story lines. Like the little girl but what is going on with her mom and dad, and what is the story of her past? Really want to know who this new killer is. Hate him already!
