The Skin Wars Season 2 finale does the usual finale stuff – we get a recap of each contestant’s journey on Skin Wars and each contestant gets a message from a loved one from home. The moments are weird with the judges watching them. It’s like “hey, we’re going to watch you have this emotional moment with a look of passive indifference.”
For the final mini-challenge, the artists have to paint something on the bottom of 2 models feet in an hour & a half. Some models are ticklish, which adds another layer of difficulty. These paints should be inspired by their message home. Avi painted a hummingbird.
Lana created Koi fish.
Aryn created a bat.
Avi’s hummingbird is the mini-challenge winner.
So for the last Skin Wars challenge of season 2, each artist has to paint a design on 5 models that creates an illusion of a single image. They get 7 hours and 2 assistants to help them. Of course they’re some of the other painters. In the house now are Fernello, Kyle, Cheryl Ann, Rio, Rachel and Dawn Marie.
As mini-challenge winner, Avi gets to pick first, so he goes with Kyle. Aryn gets Rachel. Lana gets Dawn Marie. Avi’s second helper is Rio (damn Avi is lucky). Aryn gets Fernello. Oy. Ticking time bomb Fernello. And Lana gets Cheryl Ann.
Why not crown Avi now? Why put Aryn and Lana through this?
Aryn wants to do the metamorphosis of a caterpillar to a butterfly. Lana is doing a blue crab holding a pearl in its pincers. Avi is creating a chameleon that’s created from 5 different animals. Part of the challenge is picking a pose that the models can hold for an extended period of time.
Fernello thinks of himself not as a helper, but as an artistic consultant. Way to commit to your overconfident character. Cheryl Ann thinks Lana is headstrong. AHAHAHAHAHAHAH! That’s funny. She’s in charge, Cheryl Ann. Let it go.
Let’s cut to the paints.
Lana’s crab – hey guy on the right! Get your head up next to your arm. Or your arm up to your head. Be a pincher man! You did it in the workroom. Help Lana out. Craig Tracy also didn’t dig the pearl, since it wasn’t pinched in the pinchers.
Lana wants to win so she can open her own studio and spend more time with her daughter. I kinda doubt that opening her own business will lead to having more time for her daughter, but I wish her luck with that.
Aryn’s paint in caterpillar mode. I wish the body models had tucked their heads a bit more so that the pink stripe was continuous up the back of the body.
Aryn’s paint in butterfly mode. Craig Tracy wanted more of a butterfly shape with this pose. Aryn doesn’t get asked why she should win the competition, so I have a feeling she’s out. She mentioned earlier in the episode that she’d like to work fewer jobs but that’s never a winning answer.
Avi’s individual animals – a scorpion, cheetah, monkey, frog and a flamingo in the center.
Avi’s collective animal – the 5 become 1 big chameleon. Robin has issues with the center – she finds it confusing and unclear. Avi gets asked AGAIN what he would do with the money. He’s going to Israel! How many times does he have to say he hasn’t seen his mom & he wants to take time to go to Israel!
As I suspected, Aryn is eliminated first. The judges seem to be saying that Lana’s was technically better but Avi was more creative. In the end, the season 2 Skin Wars champion is Lana.
WHAA??!!!!??? After all that setup? After all that ‘he’s got to win to visit his mom in Israel’ stuff you DON’T give him the final prize? Seriously? I mean, I liked Lana too, but I think Avi was a bit more consistent.

How in the world did that lady win? Avi was consistent he was number 1 so many times. The judges suck big time.
Honestly, if they were judging solely on the FINAL product, I agree with the decision. I could make out the head and the tail of the chameleon, but no matter how hard I tried, the middle was a muddle for me. As much as I loved Aryn’s butterfly, I had to work to see it (although the fluttering of the wings was AWESOME).
The crab, I saw instantly. I didn’t have to squint or figure it out or anything…there it was. As the annoying short judge with the hard-on for Cheryl said, “It’s supposed to be an ILLUSION.” We’re not supposed to have to work to figure it out. It’s also slightly sweeter that not only did Cheryl Ann not win, but she had to assist in paint LANA’S winning look. 🙂 That made me smile.
$100k is a lot of money. I hope that Lana gives Avi a couple thousand to go see his mom in Israel.
I’m just gonna say it Ruthie….
AVI.WAS.ROBBED! He was! He has had the most impressive body of work, and darn it, I SAW that lizard! I felt like they were lookin a little too close at it and say the individual parts and weren’t like “let’s take a step back and really see it!” Plus I thought although well done, it was better than Lana’s crab! But only by a but, because the position she chose and how to do it was FANTASTIC and I feel bad for Aaryn, that butterfly just didn’t make the proper shape for me and obviously for the judges. But Avi was robbed, that man did great work after great work after great work and then did a very inventive lizard and I feel like he just got robbed. But I suppose people will see just how amazing he is and he’ll go onto bigger and better or if they do an ALL-STARS like they’re gonna do with Ru and the season 1 people then I know he’ll rock it out on that but still, I wish he would’ve won this season, he really deserved it. But good for Lana, she earned her spot and won it, can’t hate on that!
Avi was a better painter than Lana throughout the competition except for the last challenge when Lana’s Crab stood out against his chameleon. Also once he brought up Gaza and rockets, I knew he wasn’t gonna win since Gaza is a political hot potato that networks/TV shows always try to avoid.
Last night’s episode was a great show….although Avi was a great competitor in Season 2 he did not apply himself. In fact, when I saw his assistants, I knew he was the winner, and then I remembered other obvious reasons why they had no chance of winning this. On the other hand, Lana really applied herself and did a great job with her crab. I am happy that Lana won as she truly applied herself. Lastly, I agree with many when they say that Cheryl Ann should have left a long long long long time ago.
Lana actually won because she had the best painters on her team. As much as Cheryl Ann was made out to be a pain she actually was the best painter-not necessarily the best body painter just painter and Dawn Marie was good also. Avi made the mistake of choosing Kyle who had big dreams but poor execution and poor Aryn got stuck with the to guys who thought that they could do magic, but really couldn’t.
I think Avi should have won.
There needs to be better judges. The show needs to change judges on every show.
I would like to see the paintings of the judges that they had this year under pressure.
Where do artists really get to use this talent?
Skin Wars finale was totally disappointing! Avi, by far, was the most creative and artistic of all the painters. The judges were biased in their decision on Lana winning, in my opinion. Makes me take a step back on ever watching this show again!

Judges suck…. Avi should have been a winner .. He was so good throughout. Frankly i knew judges would select Lana over Avi for obvious reasons… 🙁 Am sad i soooo wanted Avi to winnnnnn…. for me he is the winner of season 2 for sure….

First off i love this show, 2 tbe judges are stupid, rios looked like a robot, c ann should of been gone a long time be4 the semi finals, now a back story AND WHAT THEY DO WITH THE MONEY DOESN’T MATTER, itd5the art and who’s the best, i liked avi and lana, they made the right choice, ot a back story , plus lana was set up with c ann who hated her and d marie lol that was a joke, kf course avi got the mini challenge win for the advantage
I watch gsn religiously. Im not the type of person whos into body art or really knows much about it… but since I watch gsn all the time I gave this show a shot and watched it every week. I could judge better than these clowns… you kidding me… another American idol type of ratings judging not real talent judging…. avi clear cut the best and should have won. Dawn should have been top 3 lana maybe 4-5 and Cheryl ann like 6-7. I wish I was rich or had money I would just give avi money to send him to his parents… could have been an awesome finale but it fizzled bad… dropped the ball big time… not interested in season 3 gsn sorry ill stick to the game shows… avi got robbed… hope you make it to your parents if you happen to see this… #skinwarsfail

I love Skin Wars! That was a tough deduction for the finale , they all were special , ! I do feel Cheryl Ann should of won the camophalge challenge , it was better then Avi , because you saw his outline , Cheryl Ann’s models head showed but , if it were turned it would of been perfect . I think her personality rubbed people the wrong way, she annoyed me but she’s good . I feel she deserved to be in the finale , she was just as great as the three , tough call Judges . Love the show , so look forward to Season 3 !!!! Joanne
I almost wonder if they selected the most annoying sound bites from Cheryl Ann so you weren’t rooting for her. You’re right – outside of the head, her camo painting was one of the best. But that head girl…. ooof. She should’ve known better than that.
I’m happy Lana won. I would have been happy for Avi as well.
I thought it was funny that Aryn was worried about smelly feet for the first challenge. I’m confident that they wouldn’t have hired models with ugly ot dirty feet.

I’m sure the models were told it was going to be their feet so they could prepare. Although Aryn is used to volunteers in a haunted house so I’m sure the grooming standards are different 😉
There are also people who just don’t like feet. I just thought it was funny that she seemed so pleasantly surprised.
Aryn was robbed. She painted BOTH SIDES, both differently. A catapillar and a butterfly, and then, they both tied together with a backstory. I could not make out Avi’s Chamilion. Lana’s crab was pretty cool, but thats what it was, a crab, one way, nothing else. Avi was most consistant throughout the competition, then Aryn, but Aryn nailed it for the finale. Nothing against Lana, very talanted, very beautiful, but IF the judges took into account the WHOLE competition, Avi probably should have won. IF the judges were concentrating SOLELY on the last competition, Aryn should have won.

I agree with this, regarding Avi should have won the whole thing.
Both Aryn and Lana have been bottom for many challenges, whereas Avi was not bottom for a single one. Instead, he won tons of them. If the judges would have looked at the overall performance of all the painters, it should have been Avi.
But as Craig Tracy said, “Don’t judge the judges”. Right?
Yep. Although I did find it telling that they didn’t do the reality show standard of taking us through the portfolios of each of the finalists. I think if they had done that, Avi would’ve been stronger.
I think doing the caterpillar/butterfly did her in. It was really well done, but it’s so predictable. Once Robin said “we’ve seen the caterpillar/butterfly before” I knew she was done. It fit her story/journey but it wasn’t original.

The last two shows sucked Cheryl Ann should of beat Lanna.. Cheryl Ann model u couldn’t see .. Then Lanna went on to win … Aaron’s was the best … I think the judges should judge onwhat the challenge is …
