Here’s what each episode in the Bones and Sleepy Hollow crossover is about, with descriptions from FOX:

BONES (Oct. 29 at 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) – “The Resurrection in the Remains”
It’s Halloween time at The Jeffersonian as the team gets a surprise visit from newly minted FBI Agent Abbie Mills (guest star Nicole Beharie) and Ichabod Crane (guest star Tom Mison), who have traveled from Sleepy Hollow to claim a headless body already under investigation by Brennan and her team. The new foursome must figure out how to work together to discover who the 200-year-old headless corpse is, and how it is linked to a contemporary murder victim. Meanwhile, Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) come up with the ultimate Halloween pranks to play on each other.

SLEEPY HOLLOW (Oct. 29 at 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) – “Dead Men Tell No Tales”
With Brennan and Booth in tow, Abbie and Crane set out to prove that supernatural forces are at play when a mysterious death plagues the FBI. As Pandora (Shannyn Sossamon) unleashes a force to awaken the dangerous Red Coat General Howe (guest star Nicholas Guest), both teams must find a way to save the town from the British Army of the Undead. Can the power of Booth and Brennan combined with Abbie and Crane be enough to stop Pandora’s evil forces?

On a recent conference call about the Bones/Sleepy Hollow crossover event, executive producers from each show — Jonathan Collier from Bones and Clifton Campbell from Sleepy Hollow — talked about the event, and some of its potential creative challenges.

“I would say it’s intrinsically harder to put Sleepy Hollow in Bones,” Collier said, “because [on Bones] we don’t acknowledge that the supernatural exists. For our characters, it is not a reality, and for Sleepy Hollow, both science and the supernatural exist. So we had to have a story where both elements can coexist.”

Campbell agreed. “I definitely have to give that one up to Jon. That was a tightrope act that they had to pull off, and we were able to put our heads together and come up with a terrestrial crime that, on second look, had a supernatural bent that we were then able to take off on in our hour and solve on our side of it. But, it was challenging, I’m sure, for those guys to try and deal with the realities of our show inside of their own.”

Both producers say they would be open to such an event again.

“We’d love it,” said Collier. “Absolutely love it. The whole experience ended up [being] challenging but extremely rewarding.”

“Yeah,” added Campbell, “I would say, as daunting as the idea was initially, working through it with the Bones team was a great deal of fun just from a writer’s perspective. And I think the product grew exponentially from those mutual conversations. And I agree with Jon — I would love to do another one.”

The two-hour Bones and Sleepy Hollow crossover event airs Oct. 29 at 8pm ET/PT on FOX.
