Jane and her bestie for life Lina have started to drift apart ever since Jane had Mateo. Now that Mateo runs Jane’s life, Jane can’t remember things like Lina’s birthday party, which she promised to plan. Looks like this week’s episode of Jane the Virgin will show you how to keep your friends after having a baby.
Jane still hasn’t told Rafael how she really feels ever since they kissed. When he texted her that he wanted to kiss her again “very badly,” she could only think of sending a wide-smiling emoji. I doubt that sent any clear message to Rafael. Either way, Jane wants to come clean —discuss how she feels with Rafael and let Michael know that the two kissed. I’m not sure why she feels obligated to tell Michael, but OK.
Michael’s new partner, Susanna Barnett, came as a quite the surprise. We’ll just say she’s definitely no Nadine. Even though Nadine was secretly working for Sin Rostro, at least the girl knew how to handle a conversation.
When Rafael arrives at the Villanueva home, he’s greeted by Jane holding their baby. It’s such a beautiful scene of a happy-looking family … until Rafael leans in for a kiss. Jane tells Rafael that she’s focused on Mateo right now, which isn’t what Rafael surmised from the emoji Jane sent. See kids? You cannot have a conversation through emojis.
Rafael quickly turns the conversation into a serious talk about custody after realizing that Jane might not be interested in working towards a relationship with him. Where did that come from?! The gorgeous scene of that happy family 20 seconds ago has now been crushed.
Turns out Petra used that picture of Rafael and Jane kissing in order to make Michael feel bad. We get it, Petra — you’re a horrible person. There’s no need to keep proving this to us. My guess is she’ll keep trying to convince Michael that Jane is in love with Rafael, so he can join her in splitting the two apart.
Michael finds out that Heidi Von Ocher is a professional yodeler. I didn’t know that was a thing. He also believes that Sin Rostro might be having an affair with this Heidi. Back then, Sin Rostro went by the name of Denise. Michael wants Rafael to book Heidi at the hotel to perform so he can question her about Sin Rostro to figure out if he’s correct. Surprisingly, Rafael willingly agrees to book the yodeler.
Rogelio tells his family about needing to hire Luciana because of her blackmailing him. When he was younger and just arrived in Hollywood. he joined the Church of Scientology like Tom Cruise did. Luciana has Rogelio’s audits, which are similar to recordings of confessions. Xo tells Rogelio to hire Luciana in order to get the tapes back and that she’ll be able to handle it. Aww, I’m so happy to see her supporting Rogelio versus being jealous.
Since Rafael wants to spend more time with Mateo, Jane allows him to babysit during Lina’s party. Of course it’s not easy for Jane to hand over Mateo to anyone, so she made a list of instructions for Rafael — then spots the tips crumpled up on the floor next to the trash can in Rafael’s office. She called him to catch him lying about it, but quickly hid in the nearest utility closet because she thought he could’ve made a copy. Let’s be real, Jane. There’s no way he would’ve made a copy.
Michael saves the day when he frees Jane from the closet after she accidentally locks herself in. Rafael happens to be right around the corner as Jane gets out and the two start to bicker. There’s a huge smile across Michael’s face while Jane picks Rafael apart for throwing away her instructions. However, we all know Michael and he’s a great guy. He lets them know that Petra could’ve been the one who did it. After all, she’s still in love with Rafael and saw the two kissing.
Luisa is back! I’m not sure how, but here she is, on a park bench in Miami.
Jane breaks down and tells Rafael that she can’t choose who she wants to be with because she can’t recognize herself anymore — everything in her life revolves around Mateo. Jane thinks the best option would be to get a lawyer in order to get rid of the emotional aspect of determining custody, because she’s clearly an emotional wreck right now. Makes motherhood sound great, right?
As Jane is getting ready to go to the club — yes, you read that correctly — Michael stops by. He helps Jane get zipped into her dress and lets her know that her kissing Rafael shouldn’t have affected him, but it did. Oh boy, you could just feel that awkward tension in the room!
Michael then comes clean about letting Nadine go because he believed her nephew was in danger thanks to Sin Rostro. He notices the baby monitor camera in the room, but it looks like it wasn’t on. Since he pointed it out, my guess is that whole conversation was recorded.
Jane meets Lina at the club and convinces her to forgive her for forgetting her birthday. Lina has to realize that Jane didn’t ask to become a mom. Becoming a mother was Jane’s surprise and she’s doing a phenomenal job so far. I’m glad that the two besties were able to put things aside and drop it like it’s hot on the dance floor. I wish they would’ve allowed Gina to rap in this episode, too.
In order to get Rogelio’s discs back, Xo took Luciana’s trailer full of bunnies and hid them. Seems like this lady loves her bunnies as much as I love my dogs, because she gave Rogelio his discs back. However, she mentioned to Xo to watch disc 142 part C, which includes one of Rogelio’s deepest secrets. Instead of sharing what this secret is with Xo, Rogelio hides his discs. She’ll definitely be looking for what’s on disc 142 part C. I wonder what it could be.
After having a fun night at the club, Jane goes to the hotel to pick up Mateo. What she missed was Rafael’s text that said he would drop off the baby at her house. It just so happened that Michael was also at the hotel and apparently really wanted to kiss Jane. He went right in for the kiss and I’m not sure if it was the alcohol that was taking over but Jane went right in there, too. There was absolutely no hesitation with that kiss. In fact, it snowed, thanks to Heidi’s fake mountain.
Just as Petra was starting to feel good about being without Rafael, Milos comes back into her life. He may not have gotten down on one knee, but he tells Petra that she will marry him. Doesn’t seem like he’s giving her an option.
Jane gushes about her kiss with Michael to her mom. She even tells Xo that when she kissed him, she knew that Michael was the one. After saying that out loud, Jane realizes that the baby monitor is on and Rafael is in the living room where the other monitor is and can hear everything. She runs out to see if he’s heard anything but sees him sound asleep. Rafael wakes up when Jane leaves, which to me looks like he heard everything she just said. Poor Rafael! My heart just broke for him.
What were your thoughts on this episode of Jane the Virgin? Do you think Jane has finally picked between Michael and Rafael? I hope she just got caught in the moment and realizes that she shouldn’t make that decision yet. I want her to choose but I think she should think about Mateo too. I think that she should go back out with Rafael, well at least give him a chance. To me they were such a cute couple! I know that Petra is in the way, but Rafael is going through a lot of things just to be with Jane. He’s trying to get rid of Petra, he is trying to make things right with Jane, etc. He really loves her. I mean, Michael loves her but it seems like he just wants to push Rafael out the way when Jane doesn’t want that. Jane is actually making me mad at this point! I know once upon a time she had strong feelings for Michael but they went away for a reason. She started liking Rafael and they was beginning to have such a good relationship. But I get it, I wouldn’t want to be stressed like that either. With the baby, school, relationship problems with Michael and Rafael, etc… That’s a lot to take in.
That comment by Jane saddened me because if she could truly see who Michael is (the liar, the backstabber, the person that does everything for his own gain), she clearly wouldn’t make that choice. Rafael has been consistent in his moral views and Michael hasn’t. Michael is like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, depending on who you are, you get a different face. Rafael and Jane have chemistry, her and Michael don’t. It is literally like watching my best friend and me hang out. Boring. I understand history is important to people but Rafael deserves a chance and Mateo deserves the chance to have a complete family with both his parents, not this stupid situation where he could get confused on who’s his father. Just my two cents.
I’m with all the team Raffers out there! I certainly call Michael’s character into question after several of the decisions he’s made. Rafael seems to be genuine and has been that consistently (except of course when he’s been manipulating Petra, but I can’t say I blame him). Anyway, I’m on his team and not because of his abs (though they don’t hurt his likeability). I just feel like his character’s morals and values are truly more aligned with Jane’s than Michael’s are. Michael started sleeping with Nadine as soon as he and Jane split, he’s made dishonest decisions throughout the show…
I hate to say it, but I will probably stop watching also if Jane ends up choosing Michael. I watch because it’s nice to have a leading female role who actually has modest, Christian values and some moral integrity. For Jane’s character to choose Michael over Raf just seems to be inconsistent with who Jane is and would be a big disappointment to this Jane the Virgin fan. Sorry Brett Dier! You’re adorable and are AWESOME as Michael. However, I’m hoping you and Jane just remain friends…I wish you the best 🙂 Go Raf!
I agree! Team Raph all the way! Michael annoys me bc he wants to act like he’s such a good guy, but all he does is creepily pop up in Janes life at every given moment. No time for Raph to enjoy his newborn child or mother or his child. Michael is the constant third wheel trying to create a wedge. If she really does pick him I also can’t watch the show anymore. So boring.

I really want her to get back with Michael they are great together and I really think they are soul mates he know her very well and Raph didn’t even pay her any attitation until she got pregnant when they first met he could of did something and far most of all Michael I really think there way more for them and he will do anything for Jane they are the best soul mates and she fells way more for Michael
At first when she left Michael I was all most done with this show d Michael only let Nadine get away because he was setting a trap and he talk to his chief of police

I honestly don’t know if I will watch it if she ends up with Michael. Rafael is the one for her! Michael doesn’t give her that passion she needs. He’s a safe option but Rafael challenges her in a good way!
I was re-watching the first season, when Jane and Rafael first kiss, she says she feels like it was meant to be.
Please writers. Please put her and Rafael back together. I hate Michael and don’t even want to watch the new episode because she chose him. He bugs me! He’s a nice guy, but he isn’t the one for her.

Personally, I would of preferred Jane with Rafael. As mentioned above Michael is such a obvious and safe choice that maybe this is why everyone is giving up on the show already when we all had high hopes for this show. Although the last episode hasn’t stated that she has made her mind completely I really do hope she changes her mind. And I hope the producers/directors realises that the main reasons as to why we are all watching this telanovela is because we are hoping Jane realises Raffael is the one.
Come on! She accidentally gets inseminated with Raffael sperm WHO which I have to remind you all actually kissed Jane years ago and they had the most amazing conversation ever until he stopped talking to her because obviously he was a jerk back then… and suddenly she’s pregnant to his child,their perfect little Matteo ❤️ And he has worked so hard to prove to her that they can be the perfect family.
As to Michael, great guy yes. But I didn’t see chemistry I saw comfort. They were just too comfortable and safe together that that’s why they got along. Jane always had a life planned and Michael was so similar it’s easily mistaken to be “the one”
The kiss they had last episode I feel that the only reason Jane felt that it was the best kiss ever is because she obviously was under the influence of alcohol but not only that she stated it was the first time she felt like it was her and not Matteo so he caught her in that moment as where Raf had her in Matteo crazy mammy mode.
I sincerely hope you guys don’t let us down and actually listen to the viewers. Go with Raf before this season just ends up boring and bland
Michael may be steady and reliable, but it is his ethical lapses that make him unsuitable for Jane. He was going to let her give the baby away, even though he knew Petra was a bad person. He let Nadine get away, when he is a detective and it is his job to find the bad guys and protect the innocent. He lies when it suits him. Any goodness hes has is an act.
Raphael was a selfish spoiled brat when he was younger, and admits his faults. He has never lied to Jane, except when he told her he didn’t love her and that was because he thought that was better for her, not to get his own way. His life is complicated and crazy (love the whole telenovela drama in this show!) but he is genuine and trying to be the best person he can.
I can’t overlook Michael’s faults and hope Jane and Matteo and Raphael become a unified family unit.

Like I said in my last comment. If she picks Michael I’m done. I’m guessing the Britney spears thing is Rafael trying to win her back. For God sake Britney talk some damn sense into the girl. If anyone knows baby daddy drama its Britney but didn’t she give kfed a chance? For Christ sake I’m watching the next episode, and not cause I want to but cause I’m a die hard spears fan! Met her twice and loved her more the second time! Lol but if she doesn’t call Michael and Raphael together n choose raf. I’m done. Its wrong for every reason. Raph. Always wanted family of his own. So the two ladies having his kids end up marrying other ppl? Now come on. This will not get them a season 3. Half or more then half will stop watching and it will just be another show that went off the radar. I heard from reading there r two weddings this season, Jane and I’m now guessing petra and Milos but if the man Jane marries isn’t raph I’m just done. I also read things move faster this season. So, with that said if faster is her n Michael, I’m out.
After last night’s episode I am done with the show (well maybe). Please, Michael, talk about a SAFE decision. I am soooooooo disappointed that she kissed Michael. Don’t get me wrong he is a nice person but so predictable and a bit narrow minded. I think Jane would find their life together to be boring. I’m all about Raphael, Jane is an idiot!
Yes she is an idiot. She needs to be with Rafael. Somebody needs to talk some sense into her right away. If not im done with the show.
My first thought after Jane said, “He’s the one!” was that I don’t want to watch this show anymore. Jane with Michael? No way. Rafael has so much to lose if Jane chooses Michael. Michael can get his life back together on his own. There is so much more future drama for the show if Jane marries into Rafael’s troubled family. Nothing but boredom with Michael. It’s not true to Jane’s Catholic Latino family heritage to choose Michael rather than the father of her child.
Yeah, I’m basically done with this show. Michael sucks… Not as a person so much but for Jane. He’s so perfect around her it’s disgusting and unrealistic. Rafael truly loves Jane and he’s not trying to screw Michael over every chance he gets – another annoying thing about Michael- always trying to screw Rafael. Rafael has come a long way, he deserves credit for becoming a good guy! And hello… They have a kid. They deserve a chance without this stupid triangle. Jane needs to drop Michael and focus on her situation. Does that suck because they had a life before? Yeah, it does but life goes on. Does everything happen for a reason? I’d like to think so… Even if it’s fake TV life. Ha!! I’m done though. I’ll be back if she wakes up and smells the roses.

Reading the comments here I wonder whether I have been watching a different show to the rest of you! I am completely team michael! When I watch the show I can feel the chemistry between both combinations but find the chemistry between Rafael and Jane less convincing – I think its the differences in their background/lifestyle, his immaturity and crazy family that weaken it vs. Michael and Jane’s history and the fact that Michael is steady, he says all of the right things and holds himself back when he thinks its better for Jane – something Rafael doesn’t do so well. I would love Petra to distract Rafael again, but am thinking that it wont happen now that Milos is back.
Personally, I hope that they all manage to work it out between them and Jane is happy with whoever she chooses. Also, slightly worry that the twist could be that Michael gets killed or something by Sin Rostro at the end… trying to protect Jane, Mateo and Rafael, of course! Oh, and I loved the kiss with the snow 🙂
I was so disappointed last night last season the best part was Jane and Rafael how could she say the best kiss ever. I hope she’s just dreaming this because it makes no sense even for a telenovela the two mane carrecter’s are Jane and Rafael so what’s going on if she’s picks Michael which he is completely boring no chemistry at all with Jane plus raf is the father and he truly loves her. And base on the first season I felt that she loves Rafael I won’t watch it any more I’ll watch next week but if she pickes Michael I’ll go back to watching the voice:(
I don’t want to admit it but Michael and Jane were together first. They shared so much chemistry that they were going to get married. I agree that Michael needs to move on with his life and allow Rafael to have a fair chance. I’d like to see Jane with Rafael because he seems like he truly loves her and his baby. Please continue to watch the show! The cast is filled with such amazing people that I’d hate to see them lose their audience over Jane’s choice in men. You could always record The Voice on your DVR.
I only think she had felling for Rafael was because she was just pregnant and going through a lot of hormones and he being her baby daddy and all but I think if she never got pregnant and if the doctor didn’t mess up she will been married to Michael and happy now she have her baby she is started seeing her true felling for Michael and it have always been

I agree. I am rather disappointed as well in Jane picking Michael. The snow falling when they kiss is getting old. I think that’s the only reason why she likes the kiss so much. It seems to remind her of their first kiss. Rafael made a mistake breaking up with her. He just thought he was doing what was best for her. He hasn’t stopped fighting for her since they broke up. Jane has always listed to her Grandma while growing up. Why won’t she listen to her about Rafael. I agree with the rest of you. I feel like not watching the show anymore because of her choosing Michael. I feel like he is nothing but a liar. He has always been sneaky and done so many things that she just doesn’t know. I really hope they don’t end up together. If they do, I definitely won’t be watching the show anymore.
I’ll admit it, I’m not a fan of the whole snow falling thing either because I hate snow and it’s pretty cheesy. I think Rafael finally realizes how big of a mistake he made and will try everything to get Jane back. I’m shocked at how many people are saying they won’t watch the show anymore if Jane picks Michael. Were you guys all this upset about Bella picking Edward if you wanted Jacob? She played those boys way more than Jane is with Rafael and Michael. Gina recently tweeted to keep watching and not give up hope about Rafael. I hope everyone thinking about not watching the show continues to watch so they can see what she’s talking about. I absolutely love this show and cast!

The fact I don’t like Michael is when his ex-girlfriend try to get back with him, he was ok in then when he heard Jane and Rafael broke up, he call the girl it over .I dislike him for that. I know it a show but he have to know that the baby daddy will still be around..

This is exactly what I want to happen! I think Michael went back to Jane since he got hurt by Nadine and didn’t know what else to do. Now that Mateo is here I think Rafael will try his hardest to fight for Jane.
I’m rather disappointed in Jane picking Michael to be honest. Her best kiss ever? It’s as if season 1 never happened and she never truly loved Rafael at all. I’m wondering whether she ever truly loved him because while Rafael made a huge mistake breaking up with her, it hasn’t been that long ago. At that point she professed to still love Rafael and now Michael is the one? I don’t know. I’ve watched quite a few love triangles unfold on tv and they can get quite exhausting when the writers can’t decide who the protagonist has the true connection with. I thought we were meant to believe that it’s Rafael. Now, I’m not sure. And since I just don’t feel the Michael connection I’m wondering whether I should quit watching for now and possibly give it another chance when things start making sense again.

I’m hoping that it’s just Jane’s emotions talking because she just had a baby. You have to remember that Jane had her whole life planned out already with Michael. Falling for Rafael and having his baby wasn’t in her life plan. I think things will get sorted out soon, so don’t quit watching the show! It’s just the beginning of the second season.
Raphael will be staying in Jane’s life no matter what.
Michael is husband material (says an old married woman). Raf is going through a post-cancer, new-baby metamorphosis, perhaps, but he’s still been undeniably selfish. I’m tempted to stop watching right here so I can believe that Jane finally realized she always had the one. We overvalue pecs and abs and wealth when it comes to men. A guy who’s just there no matter what – that’s true gold. But alas, I’ve watched enough TV that you needn’t be salty. Raf is more attractive and being promoted up the wazoo. He’s obviously the TV one, whether he’d make a good long-term partner or not in the real world. So, I’m hoping they don’t kill Michael. Right now, I want him to find a really nice woman who appreciates him and leave Jane to her drama. But the kiss was a fantastic nod to those of us who know that nice guys are the ones worth keeping.
To be honest, I don’t find one actor more attractive than the other. I’m picking for Jane based off of things other than looks and money. I think Michael needs to move on for himself. Like you mentioned, he needs to leave Jane and all the drama that seems to follow her. He’s not Mateo’s father and doesn’t need to prove himself to Jane that he’s capable of being a father to him. Rafael is Mateo’s father and he actually does love and care for Jane and his baby. Michael just seems like he’s the loyal friend that can’t move on. He definitely needs to find someone who appreciates him but I don’t think that person needs to be Jane.
Michael has been undeniably selfish: trying to convince Jane to give her baby to Petra even though he knew she was bad news, getting upset when Jane ultimately chooses to wait until marriage even though he knew that was one of her strong-held principles for the two years they’d already been dating. He let Nadine get off because she claimed sin rostro was threatening her nephew but she lied for months about working for sin rostro so she’s not that trustworthy. He evades the proper procedure in his work. I think him and Petra would suit each other nicely, they’re both scheming but can put up a good façade. On the other hand, Rafael was spoiled but after his experience with cancer he changed and became more considerate and compassionate. He wants to work hard and be successful but also be a good dad and he was so nice to Petra in that last episode despite her actions that understandably upset him. Rafael is improving whereas Michael isn’t. The only thing that Michael has over Rafael is history with Jane and that he “knows” her but that’s unfair to Rafael because he hasn’t had the chance to get to know her the way Michael did and he could easily “know” her just like Michael knows her if she gave him the chance.
