Jane the Virgin Chapter 32 recap: Worst Date Ever!

JTV210-Jane-Ro-GpaRogelio finding out that his father is gay was quite the shock for him on last week’s episode of Jane the Virgin. However, that’s not the only family secret his father and mother were hiding.

Turns out Rogelio’s mother Liliana knew about her husband being gay for over 40 years. Now Liliana is intent on getting her son back by sucking up to him. And Xo can’t stop smiling, because now Rogelio sees his mother’s true colors that Xo saw for years.

Jane is also excited to finally get a start on her novel. All that hard work was worth getting up in the middle of the night, I guess. Unfortunately, it’s all going to vanish with a simple accident. The Villanuevas notice Mateo crawling and begin to celebrate. What they failed to see is that Mateo was headed straight towards the laptop charging cord. You guessed it- — he knocked the computer down and orange juice got all over it. At least it was a cute accident, right?

Oh yeah, remember last week’s horrifying scene of Rafael’s mother, Elena, stabbing him in the neck to knock him out? It left all of us worried about Rafael’s life, but don’t worry. I guess his mother has somewhat of a heart and let her child live. Michael and his partner are there to greet Rafael in his apartment when he awakens. That’s when Rafael tells Michael that Elena was after the chip and that she said Rose didn’t have it. Now everyone is on the hunt for that chip!

Looks like Mateo was subconsciously trying to help his mom set up a date. The tech guy that helps Jane with her computer is insanely gorgeous and Lina knows it. Being the good friend she is, she tries to push Jane to think about dating again — and tech guy is at the top of the list.

Petra had a scare with the babies but everything seems to be OK. Rafael rushed to the hospital when Petra called. The doctor said Petra will need to be on bedrest for a week, which means someone will need to look after her. When Rafael tells her that they’ll hire a nurse, Petra’s face says it all — she wants him to be the nurse.

I never saw Jane as the type of girl to find a date through online dating sites but thanks to Lina, she is now that girl. Since Lina’s ambush blind date didn’t go over well with Jane, this virgin needs to take things into her own hands. Curious as to what all her messages said, Jane ends up finding a decent guy. Did I mention he’s a scientist … and he finds Mateo cute? There’s got to be a catch, right? Either way, Jane is finally dating!

JTV210-Ro-MomIn order to make Liliana feel better about her new life situation, Rogelio has re-hired his mother as his manager. Looks like Xo was right by warning Rogelio of the disasters that would happen with his decision. Liliana might be the worst momager ever.

So tech dude’s name is Dax (Diego Boneta) and he seems pretty into Jane. Things were going well as she adventured off to the skate park with Dax, but just like her laptop, she fell. Actually she kind of flew. Maybe it’s a mix of the tequila and hormones, but this is the best date Jane has been on so far. They end the night with a kiss and I’m actually digging these two. Dang girl, get it!

Aaaaand … never mind! My heart just shattered like Jane’s when Dax admitted he had plans for the weekend with his girlfriend. I agree with Abuela, what a creep!

JTV210-Jane-ProfI’m shocked: Xo tries comforting Liliana after Rogelio tells her that she’s fired. At first she tries to take the blame for his decision but Liliana overheard the two talking earlier when Rogelio said he needed to fire his mom. Xo was the one fighting for Liliana and telling Rogelio he couldn’t do such a thing to his mother. I think there’s a new relationship growing here. Finally!

Nadine might be twisted with her sneakiness but I admire her ingenuity. After Michael had been replaying the last moments he shared with Nadine in his head, he got her clue. She happened to cut him on the leg with a glass bottle and placed the chip inside Michael. A quick cut to the leg and instantly the search for the chip is over. That’s one clever (yet gory) way to keep the chip a secret.

Jane may have had her share of bad dates but the steamy dream she had about Professor Chavez was insane! It must be the creativity in her that sparked such a wild dream. Looks like Jane is finally ready to confess her love for her professor — and it’s about time! We were all wondering when that would happen.

What were your thoughts on this week’s episode of Jane the Virgin? How weird was it to watch Michael cut his leg open to find the chip? See, I knew I always loved Nadine. She got the upper hand on Sin Rostro in the end. That’s the kind of payback I love to see. Do you think Rogelio was harsh by firing his mother? At least it brought Liliana and Xo closer. I think I hear wedding bells for Rogelio and Xo. Do you think Rafael might develop feelings for Petra again? It could happen now that they’re bonding over the babies. Do you think Jane should try dating again? Let’s hope she gets a good shot with Professor Chavez! Leave your thoughts in the comment section below.

Jane the Virgin airs Mondays at 9/8CT on The CW.

  1. Sometimes I think Jane is an idiot. She has a rich, ultra fine, sexy man who is pining away for her, and is the father of her beautiful little boy. What the heck else could one wish for? Maybe the dating scene will run her to Rafael, cuz there is likely to not be much out there in telenovelaland as there is not much in real life. What did Rafael do that was so horrible that he can’t be forgiven. Michael isn’t a bad guy, but is so, so annoying, and not the right one for Jane. Wake up, girl!!

    • This comment had me laughing! I think Jane will get fed up with trying to date other guys and run back to Rafael. I think she’s still upset that he lied to her and turned Michael in but she could overlook that, right?

    • I couldn’t agree with you more! I find her behavior annoying and her dismissal of Rafael just isn’t believable. There is no way a woman could reject a man that handsome, who is also such a devoted father and totally dedicated to her. I hope they get back on track soon. I’m having a tough time following this season.

    • Couldn’t agree more. Disappointed the direction the show is taking. It’s got to be Rafael and Jane. That’s the only thing I want to watch.

      • I agree. Wrong directions, and as Luisa would say: “It time to right this ship”. I am still waiting for Petra’s babies to turn out to be Roman Zazza’s kids. Hopefully it will turn out like the show ‘Nip Tuck’. [Christian was a HOE, slept with everybody and so did the woman that said she was pregnant by him. When she had the baby it was obvious it was not his. The baby was black and everyone just looked at each other. (lol)] BTW, shouldn’t they stop call her Petra Solano. She is re-married to Milos

      • Give it time. The happy ending always comes at the end of the story. You wouldn’t want to ruin a good story by making the happy ending pop up in the beginning. She’ll realize who she wants eventually. Let’s hope it’s Rafael!

    • YES! Jane and Rafael. There is no other match up worth pursuing. Also, the character of Rafael needs WAY more screen time. If they keep pushing him aside I am going to lose interest quickly. Their love story is all about destiny and fate–and matches the whimsical premise of the show. Also, another key is how they started their relationship backward and I’d like to revisit that again.
