Go here for the 2017 NHRA TV schedule on FOX Sports.

FOX Sports and the NHRA agreed to a TV rights deal that will have FOX Sports broadcasting more than 450 hours of NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series programming annually beginning in 2016.

Previous TV rights holder ESPN was often criticized by NHRA fans for airing only same-day taped race coverage that was often preempted by other live sports. The NHRA’s deal with FOX brings the sport to a network that has a strong commitment to motorsports.

The 2016 season on FOX Sports begins with the 56th Annual Circle K Winternationals in Pomona, Calif., Feb. 12-14. FS1 airs qualifying from Pomona on Friday, Feb. 12, beginning at 10:30pm ET. Qualifying continues on FS1 early Sunday morning at 1am ET. The Winternationals Finals air live on FS1 Sunday beginning at 5pm ET.

Dave Rieff provides the play-by-play, with analyst Tony Pedregon. Bruno Massel and Jamie Howe report from the pits, with feature reports by John Kernan, and stats and features from Lewis Bloom.

  1. Are your air times Eastern or Pacific time? I’m a west coast Nhra fan, and missed a the eliminations today…. and should be posted on your schedule.
    Thank You;
    Rick Nichols

  2. I have been looking for nhra drag racing can t find it anywhere I went 2 gainsville but can attend all the events that sucks

  3. What in the world was that? The NHRA coverage went 30 years backwards. Where is Mike Dunn? FOX Sports you better wake up. Your innovative style does not work with drag racing, it was hard to watch, no stats or numbers listed at the end of a pass for both drivers. ESPN had it right. FOX you currently have no idea what you’re doing.

  4. used to watch drag races on the weekend but now I get to watch stuff I don’t even care about. what happened to drag races?

  5. I used to be able to watch NHRA on my tv on ESPN every race weekend and now nothing, all they show is 4 race days on FOX or you must have FS1 -which some of us do not have, Wow , getting just like NASCAR ,alienate some more of your loyal fans – and they wonder why their crowds are shrinking ??

  6. i cant beleive nhra has done a deal with fox sports & forgot to mention to air it in australia . who is at fault here , is it nhra or is it foxtel ? . i am thinking of cancelling foxtel because i used to look forward to watching nhra & so should every other australian passionant nhra fan .. ‘NOT HAPPY ‘

    • Same here,
we can no longer get to view the Mellow Yellow series here in Australia.
I’ve been watching for over 5 years, rarely missed a round but now, can’t get to see a round except for snippets on YouTube.
Will be downgrading my Foxtel subscription.

As others are saying, BRING NHRA to Australia!

    • I can’t see for the life of me why Foxtel can not show this in OZ. I was an avid fan. Makes me wonder whether FOX is really worth the money

  7. I’m at a total loss here. For the past 5 years watching NHRA has even trumped the footy for me.
    Now; NOTHING?????
My home boy Richie Crampton is up with best and all there is is results!!!

    FOX
    BRING NHRA TO AUSTRALIA!!!!

  8. Are we able to see NHRA drag racing on Australia TV this year as I have been watching the NHRA for over ten years now???

  9. Saw the first coverage of NHRA racing. Showing of times, speeds, and reaction times was very inconsistent for each round. Also, hard to see even on a wide screen TV. Suggestion: be consistent for every round. Make the print larger, show the statistics for every round for each driver. The announcers do say the numbers, but it is so quick, as one is watching , it may be not heard correctly.

Maybe this is part of the learning curve, but please work on it soon. We are loyal fans in my house and look forward to accurate/complete coverage of the same quality as ESPN. Also, we miss Mike Dunn. He was a great asset to the TV coverage of this fantastic sport.

  10. Peter Clifford, Were is our NHRA vision in Australia
I have been a fan for 4 decades I consider NHRA the Best Sporting
event on the Planet, ANDRA in Australia forgot about the fans too
    and now look at them!!!!

  11. I have been watching for years on ESPN but now nothing. How abut it NHRA thousands of fans OUTSIDE the US deserve better than this. Give us the opportunity to watch our favourite sport.

  12. loved the show can you show more sportsman cars while your on down time from the pros., love to see the diff. cars in the sportsman classes

    • We all want to see more Sportsman class raceing , tiered of the cars run by computers , let’s see some real racers !!

  13. We looked forward this season. Been racing for over 30 years. Hey guess what time warner doesn’t even carry it here in ohio. yea we get fs 1 but guess what no racing. we have to upgrade (money money) thats what its all about. we get three fox sports channels and not a one carried it. went to friends house to watch on his dish. what did we see a joke! You need to get a clue on how to do this. has your producer ever been to a race or seen coverage of it. abc done a better job in the 70’s. Get a clue

    • It wasn’t on outside of the US. Your lucky your mate can get it.
All markets previously serviced under the ESPN footprint are now in the DARK.

Peter Clifford of the NHRA only negotiated the TV rights for the US, as that’s all he was interested in.
He forgot about Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Europe, The Middle East and SEA.
Instead of going for a bigger audience he went for a smaller one! that makes sense.
