‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Is Back. Are You Happy Now?

If you bug him long enough, you can get Larry David to do anything — even a new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

“I don’t really miss things, people that much. But I was missing it, and I was missing these idiots,” David says, referring to his costars. “So I thought, ‘Yeah, what the hell?’ And I got tired of people asking me, ‘Is the show coming back?’ I couldn’t face that question anymore, and I wasn’t ready to say, ‘No, never.’ And I kept saying, ‘Oh, you know, maybe. Who knows?’ So I thought, ‘Yeah, I won’t have to be asked that anymore.’”

Last seen in 2011, the fictional Larry was busy introducing a 7-year-old to Nazism and feuding with Michael J. Fox in the Season 8 finale. Season 9 will pick up five years after that, and we’ll find out very quickly what the characters have been up to since then.

Returning to the cast are Jeff Garlin, Susie Essman, JB Smoove and Cheryl Hines, plus recurring guest stars Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen, Bob Einstein, Richard Lewis and Judge Judy Sheindlin. “Judge Judy actually is in my ex‑wife’s family, so I knew her,” David says. Appearing in Season 9 are Elizabeth Banks, Ed Begley Jr., Carrie Brownstein, Bryan Cranston, Lauren Graham, Jimmy Kimmel, Nick Offerman, Nasim Pedrad and Elizabeth Perkins.

Season 9 of Curb Your Enthusiasm premieres Oct. 1 at 10pm ET/PT on HBO.
