Zombie MOVIES!
MOVIES!, beginning at 8pm
Catch a Classic!

The undead are the stars of several titles airing on MOVIES! this evening, a couple of them somewhat underrated and likely lesser known but well-crafted ones. The first two, however, probably don’t need much of an introduction: director George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead (1968), which pretty much kicked off the modern zombie genre of horror film, and the third entry in that franchise, Day of the Dead (1985). After that is writer/director David Cronenberg’s Rabid (1977), which, given Cronenberg’s involvement, you won’t be surprised to learn is a very bizarre and graphic body-horror movie. Following that is Messiah of Evil (1973), cowritten and -directed by Gloria Katz and Willard Huyck, who that same year would also write George Lucas’ American Graffiti. This film is set in a remote coastal California town plagued by ghouls/vampires and features a couple of memorably unnerving scenes in a grocery store and a movie theater.
