“Thrill Crazy … Kill Crazy … Gun Crazy” reads the poster for this 1950 film noir led by John Dall and Peggy Cummins as a husband and wife who are, indeed, at least as crazy for their guns as they are for each other while embarking on a crime spree. The screenplay was written by Dalton Trumbo (who was credited as “Millard Kaufman” due to his blacklisting at the time) and MacKinlay Kantor, based on Kantor’s 1940 short story. Somewhat of a pulpy cult favorite, Gun Crazy also has “respectability” — it’s been included in the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.”
