Even President Obama weighed in. ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos conducted an exclusive interview with Darren Wilson today in the wake of last night’s announcement. Parts of the interview will air Nov. 25 on World News With David Muir (6:30pm ET) and […]

Destination America shows what happens “When Turkeys Attack”

In a strange sort of hybrid of America’s Funniest Home Videos and one of the those “Mermaids” or “Megalodon” programs, Destination America’s timely and amusing Thanksgiving special When Turkeys Attack presents a tongue-in-cheek look at ostensibly real people (although at this point it’s hard to trust the full veracity of a Discovery Communications network documentary) who have been attacked by turkeys, and have the footage to prove it. An ominous narrator introduces the clips with warnings about turkey attacks being on the rise across the country, and an interview with a turkey breeder named “Weasel” (who looks exactly like you […]

Animal Planet’s “The Whale” explores real-life event that inspired “Moby-Dick”

“From the network that brought you Mermaids,” read the title card ahead of the trailer for Animal Planet’s self-described “scripted event” The Whale: Revenge From the Deep. That may be enough to either intrigue or dissuade any number of people who either liked or disliked Animal Planet’s previous forays into scripted fare like Mermaids, but the trailer does look promising. Add to that the fact that Martin Sheen headlines the film based on a gripping true-life tale, and that’s enough to get us to dive in. The two-hour production is a retelling of the sinking of the Nantucket whaling ship […]

When is “It’s a Wonderful Life” on TV 2014?

When is It’s a Wonderful Life on TV 2014? You might recall the days of being able to watch It’s a Wonderful Life on TV a LOT. The 1946 Frank Capra classic was in the public domain at that time, about 20 or 30 years ago, and it seemed to air nearly nonstop in syndication between Thanksgiving and Christmas. For the past several years, rights to It’s a Wonderful Life have belonged to NBC, so airings of the film have become more of a special viewing occasion, with the network usually airing it twice during the Christmas season. And they […]
