TMZ, the gossip site/show that primarily focused on Hollywood before also branching out into sports (where it helped break stories this year about such figures as Donald Sterling and Ray Rice), will be bringing that combo of Hollywood and sports to REELZChannel in the new series TMZ Hollywood Sports. Hallmark Channel announces development deal with author Karen Kingsbury

She’s the “queen” of Christian fiction, according to Time magazine, and now novelist Karen Kingsbury (pictured) has a deal with Hallmark Channel to have two of her popular books developed into original movies, the network announced today. The Bridge, based on Kingsbury’s 2012 novel, is scheduled for a Holiday 2015 premiere on Hallmark Channel. Special “Cops” episode to honor audio technician Bryce Dion

Langley Productions and Spike TV have announced that Spike will air a special, one-hour episode of Cops to remember the show’s veteran audio technician Bryce Dion, who was tragically killed during production on a police shootout in Omaha on Aug. 26. Dion was 38 years old. Bryce Dion worked for seven years as audio technician on Cops, and had recently been promoted to Audio Supervisor. This Friday’s edition of the CBS news program 48 Hours will feature coverage from when the show was in a South African courtroom this week to cover a judge’s decision on whether Olympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius (a.k.a. “Blade Runner,” a reference to the leg prostheses he wears as a double amputee) murdered his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, or if her death was an accident. The valiant defense of Fort McHenry on the night of Sept. 13, 1814, during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812 inspired Francis Scott Key to write “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The song eventually was declared the national anthem of the United States by Congress in 1931.
