ABC to Broadcast “The Ten Commandments” on Easter

ABC has announced that it will air the 1956 classic The Ten Commandments — Cecil B. DeMille’s epic masterpiece — on Easter Sunday. From an ABC press release: The Easter classic, The Ten Commandments, will air as an “ABC Special Presentation” on Sunday, April 5 (7:00-11:44 p.m., ET/PT) on the ABC Television Network. The legendary Cecil B. DeMille film from 1956 was an annual tradition for many families who gathered to watch the story of Moses every Easter. I’ve been dreading tonight for months. I have had a sad feeling in my stomach thinking about the finale of Parks and Recreation. Today on Good Morning America, Dancing With The Stars announced 11 of the 12 celebrities vying for the coveted mirror ball trophy in the show’s 1oth anniversary season. The 20th cast of the dance competition features an Olympic champion, an American Hero, a TV icon, singing legend and a Shark. Tonight is Hollywood’s most anticipated night. When the dreams of a handful come true and for the rest, “It was an honor just to be nominated.” Here’s a rundown of the night’s most buzzworthy events and a list of winners that I’ll update as the night goes on. Whenever I think about Parks and Recreation ending its 7 season run on Feb. 24, I get misty eyed, and the opening bars of Semisonic’s “Closing Time” starts buzzing through my mind. The mocumentary comedy never enjoyed huge ratings, but it was well received by critics and enjoyed a fiercely loyal audience. And I will miss it immensely.
