Famous victims in the past have included Tom Cruise, Halle Berry, Justin Timberlake, Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Sandra Bullock, Hugh Jackman and Katy Perry. Host Josh Duhamel will preside over the zany proceedings, trying his bland-leading-man heart out to prove that he indeed does have a personality. Seriously, […]

TV Land Awards 2013 not happening, network says

For the past 10 years, springtime has meant another addition of the TV Land Awards, a nostalgia-packed gala that celebrates classic television and usually is good for at least one blockbuster cast reunion. Yet the TV Land Awards 2013 are not to be. A spokesman for TV Land told me, “We love the TV Land Awards and think there is great value in the franchise, but we will not be producing the show this spring.” Short and sweet, but a bitter pill for fans of a show that has brought such memorable moments as 2011’s Welcome Back, Kotter reunion, which probably […]

Fashion Police Oscars 2013 recap

An everyday fashionista provides our Fashion Police Oscars 2013 recap Well, there’s nothing like Hollywood’s top celebrities getting opinions about fashion from an 80-year-old standup comedienne, a host of a celebrity “news” show, the daughter of a rock star famous for biting the head off a bat, and a random stylist … so that’s why the editors of Channel Guide Magazine assigned an everyday gal like myself, who is obsessed with award-show fashion, to weigh in on what the average viewer liked and disliked about this year’s Oscar wardrobes and E!’s coverage of them. First of all, let’s start with […]

Oscars 2013 winners: “Argo” takes home top prize

Oscars 2013 winners will always enjoy their triumphs, despite the fact that they’ll forever be associated with the year that Seth MacFarlane hosted. No, he didn’t turn it into “Family Guy goes to the Oscars,” per se — although those opening-monologue sketches did play like so many interminable Family Guy fantasy sequences — the usually confident MacFarlane often came off awkward and stilted. No matter what swagger you bring to the gig, you’ve got to be funny, and so often MacFarlane just wasn’t. Jokes about Daniel Day-Lewis being so in character that he must have mistaken Don Cheadle for a […]

Oscars 2013 date, time, TV channel, preview and more, with host Seth MacFarlane! The 85th Annual Academy Awards Sunday, Feb. 24 ABC, 7pm ET; Red Carpet coverage on E! starting at 5:30pm ET Family Guy funnyman Seth MacFarlane hosts this year’s Oscar ceremony, striking fear in the hearts of traditionalists that he’ll turn Hollywood’s biggest night into an endless parade of self-promotion and TV-MA-rated buffoonery. But MacFarlane has promised to adapt his shtick to the appropriate level, which probably means somewhere between the comfort food of Billy Crystal and the awkward embarrassment of David Letterman. But hey, as long as […]

Grammys 2013 ratings: Awards telecast draws second-largest audience since 1993

In their reporting of the fast nationals from its coverage of last night’s Grammys 2013 ceremony (using Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings), CBS says that the 55th Annual Grammy Awards scored 28.37 million viewers — the second-largest audience for the awards broadcast since 1993. It was also the second-best delivery in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 since 2004 (all behind the 2012 broadcast, which had the extraordinary circumstance of taking place a day following Whitney Houston’s passing). During its live airing from 8-11:30pm ET, the Grammys posted a 15.9/25 with 28.37 million viewers, 11.2 in adults 25-54, […]
