Oscar winning documentary feature Citizenfour premieres on HBO tonight

On the heels of its Oscar win for best documentary feature at last night’s Academy Awards, filmmaker Laura Poitras’ searing documentary Citizenfour makes its HBO debut tonight at 9/8CT. Steven Soderbergh co-executive produces the real-life thriller. In January 2013, Poitras — who was already at work on a film about monitoring programs in the U.S. — received an encrypted email from a stranger calling himself Citizen Four, who offered her inside information about illegal wiretapping practices of the National Security Agency (NSA) and other intelligence agencies. Tonight is Hollywood’s most anticipated night. When the dreams of a handful come true and for the rest, “It was an honor just to be nominated.” Here’s a rundown of the night’s most buzzworthy events and a list of winners that I’ll update as the night goes on. Almost every year around Oscar nominations time, the question tends to be asked about where the black filmmakers and actors are among the nominees. Women of color in particular seem to be left out of the Oscar conversation on many occasions. BET will again be airing the BET Honors, with the BET Honors 2015 airing on the network Feb. 23 at 9pm ET in a taped broadcast. Wayne Brady hosts the ceremony for the second year. In a scene straight out of my wildest fantasies, Walt Disney World Resort guests, (specifically visitors to Disney’s Hollywood Studios) can pose with the famed little gold statue. Nick Jonas to Get Slimed as Host of Nickelodeon’s 2015 KCA’s

Platinum-selling artist Nick Jonas was just announced as the host of Nickelodeon’s 28th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards. The 22 year-old “Jealous” singer takes over for 2014 Kids’ Choice Awards host, Mark Wahlberg. 2015 is setting itself up to be a massive year for Jonas. He is slated to tour starting in April on Iggy Azalea’s Great Escape tour in support of his self-titled album. His single “Jealous” grabbed the No. 1 position on the U.S. Radio charts and has set the tone for his second single, “Chains,” which is currently rising up the charts. 2015 BAFTA Film Awards to air in U.S. on BBC America

Stephen Fry will once again host The EE British Academy Film Awards (a.k.a. BAFTA Film Awards) when the 2015 installment is held Feb. 8, marking his 10th time as host. BBC America will have exclusive U.S. broadcast coverage of the ceremony held at London’s Royal Opera House beginning at 8pm ET. The Grand Budapest Hotel leads the field with 11 nominations.
