5 Things To Know About Season 2 of “The Following”

OK, first things first. So when does Season 2 of The Following premiere? A lot of confusion happened last week when FOX did some rejiggering of their schedule and added a “sneak preview,” which was more like the season premiere of The Following, which aired immediately after the NFC Championship game. Our DVRs weren’t prepared when post-game coverage stopped mid-hour and The Following immediately started resulting in many people missing the first 12 minutes. Not to worry. FOX always intended to re-air the episode as part of tonight’s two-hour premiere event. So here’s the lineup: The Following: “Resurrection” begins at […]

Black Sails: Michael Bay brings gritty pirate drama to Starz

Jack Sparrow wouldn’t last a minute onboard the Walrus. For those who might fear that the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise may have forever Disney-fied the genre, Starz’s new drama Black Sails from executive producer Michael Bay will pillage that notion quickly. The rampant sex, foul language and violence — especially the violence — reflect a much harsher, and undoubtedly more realistic, portrait of life on the high seas in 1715. Oh, and did I mention it’s also a prequel of sorts to Treasure Island? The large cast of characters includes the likes of Capt. Flint (Toby […]

“AHS: Coven” gets back on track with “Go To Hell”

Recap of AHS: Coven Jan 22 episode: After a two episode AHS: Coven detour, tonight’s American Horror Story: Coven “Go To Hell” gets us back on the highway to the Seven Wonders. Between Stevie Nicks, trips to Disneyland and OTC Benadryl, I was thankful my DVR was working so I could watch the last two episodes again, and again. So many witchy women had left, I needed a program to keep score. [SPOILER ALERT – major plot point revealed, so don’t read on if you don’t want to know] But things do get back to normal in this episode, and […]

TCA: “Resurrection” brings haunting drama to ABC

Do we question miracles, or just enjoy them? That’s one of the central questions behind the intriguing, heartfelt drama Resurrection, which premieres at 9pm Sunday, March 9. Set in the small town of Arcadia, Mo., a husband and wife (Kurtwood Smith, Frances Fisher) are stunned when a young boy comes to their house and appears to be Jacob (Landon Giminez), their son who died decades ago. The mother accepts this without question, just delirious to have her son back, while the father […]

“The 100” brings futuristic take on “Lord of the Flies” to The CW

If you notice some similarities between the classic novel Lord of the Flies and The CW’s futuristic new drama The 100, that’s no accident. Like William Golding’s chilling masterpiece, the sci-fi series follows a group of young people left alone in a dangerous wilderness, and observes the deadly developments that take place as they struggle to not only survive the elements but each other. In The 100 (pronounced “The Hundred” if you want to sound cool about it) Earth has been left uninhabitable by nuclear war, with the remnants of humanity waiting out the century or so needed for the […]

TCA: “Intelligence” ratings drop “sucked,” executive producer says

For the new spy series Intelligence, so far it’s been a tale of two missions. The CBS drama scored huge ratings for its Jan. 7 debut. Then came Episode 2 on Jan. 13, when it premiered in its regular time slot and suffered a big ratings drop, this time without the benefit of an NCIS lead-in. But the cast and crew projected confidence as they spoke at the show’s TCA panel in Los Angeles on Wednesday that the Josh Holloway-led series would find its groove. “That sucked,” said executive producer Michael Seitzman. “But it was great having five days watching […]

TCA: FX to debut Fargo 10-episode series April 15

Whatever you want to call it — a re-imagining, a reworking, an adaptation, a riff — FX’s 10-episode series Fargo will debut April 15, the network announced Tuesday as it addressed reporters in Los Angeles. One word the cast and crew would prefer you not use is “remake.” This Fargo, which takes its inspiration and aesthetic from the award-winning and beloved 1996 Coen brothers film, features all new characters and situations as life for a group of residents in Bemidji, Minn., suddenly turns violent. Bemidji is a real town, but we’re guessing it doesn’t often play host to some of […]
