Sons of Anarchy recap: “Los Fantasmas”

Sons of Anarchy recap: “Los Fantasmas” After the entertaining sidetrip last week that showed us the continuing exploits of Venus Van Dam, we get back on track this week with a pretty focused, straightforward episode. The fallout from Tara’s (Maggie Siff) stunning maneuver against Gemma (Katey Sagal) starts to take shape, while some expected flaws also begin to be exposed, while Nero (Jimmy Smits) makes a fateful decision from jail. Roosevelt (Rockmond Dunbar) presses Gemma for a statement, and she’s surprisingly cool and calm as she spells it out for him. As furious as she must be, it’s hard not […]

The Returned: Date, time, TV channel, preview and more!

You know those annoying people who every time there’s a remake of a movie, TV show, or even a song they just have to point out that they’ve already seen the original? They then of course proceed to tell you how the original is superior. Well, you can be one of them if you tune in to Sundance Channel to watch The Returned. On top of being in the know, you’ll also catch a hauntingly beautiful piece of television. The French series (called Les Revenants in its native land) is shown with subtitles, plays like a (possibly) supernatural twist on […]

Boardwalk Empire Season 4 Episode 8 recap: ‘The Old Ship of Zion’

Dunn Purnsley (Erik LaRay Harvey) came to Atlantic City seeking whatever main chance the city’s rough underworld might afford him. It initially ran him afoul of the boss of the city’s African-American ward, Chalky White (Michael K. Williams). Chalky, like all men of dubious trade, saw value in Dunn’s skills and the zeal with which he employed them, but the cloud looming over all seekers of the main chance, as Chalky finally discovered on last night’s Boardwalk Empire, is that they are by nature narcissists and serving themselves will trump all commitment to anything greater, which means their course of […]

The Walking Dead Season 4 episode 3 recap: ‘Isolation’

The prison is a complicated place these days. Just a few episodes back, the populace was divided neatly in two — Grimes gang and not‚ and only at night. Now people are isolated because they are sick … and sicker still. The young and still healthy are over here. The grown and still healthy are over there. Pods of people everywhere, kept from one another as best they can manage. It’s no longer about who is outsider and who is not. It’s about who is harboring a killer in his or her bloodstream. And if anyone is not. After three […]

Sons of Anarchy recap: “Sweet and Vaded”

Last week’s episode included a memorable line from DA Patterson (CCH Pounder) where she takes off her wig, looks in the mirror and says, “Time to go hood, sister.” Tara (Maggie Siff) was on the receiving end of the tirade that came next, and she looked about as shellshocked as we’ve ever seen her. But it looks like she might have gleaned some inspiration from Patterson’s maneuver, because as you’ll see in this Sons of Anarchy recap, Tara goes all-out gangsta as her ultimate plan to separate her boys from SAMCRO. But first things first. The cleanup continues at the […]
