Rizzoli & Isles wins Best Cop Show in Channel Guide’s 2013 Viewers Voice Awards

Rizzoli & Isles wins Best Cop Show in Channel Guide’s 2013 Viewers Voice Awards. Can’t say we were surprised by this one, even with such a strong field. The lady-buddy drama starring Angie Harmon as tough-cookie cop Jane Rizzoli and Sasha Alexander as family-tormented medical examiner Dr. Maura Isles is TNT’s top-rated show of all time and the No. 2 scripted series in the history of ad-supported cable television, bested only by our Best Drama winner The Walking Dead. Suits, Franklin and Bash tie for Best Legal/Political Show in Channel Guide’s 2013 Viewers Voice Awards

Suits and Franklin & Bash tie in the 2013 Viewers Voice Award for the “Best Legal/Political Show,” in Channel Guide’s annual reader poll. As Gabriel Macht, who plays Harvey Specter on Suits, told us about his character earlier this year: “He takes such risks and I think people just love that. And there’s just a sense that women love him and men want to be him, that’s what I’m getting.” And that’s what we got, too, when readers voted for Suits for their favorite legal/political show. But Harvey Specter wasn’t the only winner in this category, as TNT’s Franklin & […]

Burn Notice wins 2013 Viewers Voice Award for TV Series You’ll Miss the Most in Channel Guide’s 2013 Viewers Voice Awards

Burn Notice wins 2013 Viewers Voice Award for the “TV Series You’ll Miss the Most,” in Channel Guide’s annual reader poll. Its final campaign might not have had the groundswell of, say, Breaking Bad’s home stretch, but Burn Notice left plenty of people sad to see it go. After seven seasons of sexy spy fun, Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) and company went out with a particularly dark season and an epic finale that brought its characters to the very brink. For all those forlorn fans, though, creator Matt Nix says he hopes to bring back the series via the occasional […]

Boardwalk Empire Season 4 episode 7 recap: ‘William Wilson’

Running underneath the surface of Terence Winter’s sprawling HBO series Boardwalk Empire for three and a half seasons has been a distinctly Marxian, heretical and all-too-true appraisal of 1920s America, boiling down to this: everything is a grift. It’s not just booze and its absurd illegality, nor the politics fueled by racketeers’ receipts, nor the graft that stretches all the way to the presidency – even the “proper” job Margaret (Kelly Macdonald) has found after bolting Atlantic City crime boss Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) conscripts her into chicanery. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that this milieu yielded the 1929 Crash because […]

Catch an extended sneak peek of FOX’s “Almost Human” tonight during “Bones”

The main event on FOX’s primetime lineup tonight is undoubtedly the wedding between Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) on Bones, but nestled into the nuptials will be an extended sneak peek at the network’s upcoming sci-fi drama Almost Human. The latest TV project from executive producer J.J. Abrams (Star Trek, Fringe) tackles the classic themes of what constitutes humanity in a future world where crime has run rampant and law enforcement has become overwhelmed to the point where each officer is mandated to take on an android partner. The extended sneak peek will also air simultaneously across all […]

After the mortifying revelation that something awful is in the air — or the water, or somewhere — in last week‘s Season 4 premiere of The Walking Dead,  we open episode 2 in the dead of night, at the fence, where a flashlight-toting someone is feeding rats to the walkers through the chain link. Inside the prison, Karen and Tyreese are cuddling. Even with such a comely girl in his lap, Ty can’t keep his mind off of Zack’s horrific demise at the big box store the day before. Fingering the awesome ROCK-PAPER-SCISSORS bracelet on Karen’s wrist (get your very […]

Matt Bomer, Tim DeKay talk White Collar Season 5 premiere

White Collar season 5 premiere Thursday, Oct. 17 on USA: Thursday is the new night for USA Network’s hit series White Collar, which returns for it’s fifth season beginning Thursday, Oct. 17 at 9pmET/8pmCT. Series star Matt Bomer says that this season — at least for his character Neal — is all about “best intentions going awry.” A statement that leads back to last season’s cliffhanger that left FBI agent Peter Burke (DeKay) and conman-turned-consultant Neal Caffrey (Bomer) in one hot mess — where Peter was accused of murdering the senator, when really it was Neal’s father (Treat Williams) who […]

Sons of Anarchy recap: “Salvage”

Blowing up the clubhouse, the main setting for nearly six seasons. That should be some season-finale shit right there, right? Not if you’re Kurt Sutter or any of the other minds behind Sons of Anarchy. Any episode can lead to permanent game-changing events, so much so that when one character almost gets killed, it can kind of feel like a cheat, or a case of the writers losing their nerve. I mean, seeing Jax (Charlie Hunnam)  and Chibs (Tommy Flanagan) walking through the charred remains of Teller Morrow in the opening moments of Episode 6 … that’s like seeing Kirk, […]
