American television has borrowed from Spanish-language telenovelas (such as with the recent Devious Maids), so it shouldn’t be a surprise that the opposite would happen, as well. Such is the case with Gossip Girl Acapulco, an international adaptation of the long-running American hit Gossip Girl (which ended its run on The CW last year).
