Don’t expect to see Arnold Schwarzenneger or Maria Shriver anytime soon on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network’s new series “Unfaithful: Stories of Betrayal.” This hour-long confessional/consultation series is slated to air Mondays at 9pm ET/PT beginning June 6. Celebrities are as superstitious as the rest of us

By Tom Comi With today being Friday the 13th, people across the country will do all they can to avoid ladders, black cats and every other thing considered to be bad luck. But don’t be ashamed if you are one of those people, because there are scores of celebrities who are also very superstitious. With the help of the Internet, we found many TV and movie and stars who would supposedly be lost without their lucky charms or routines. –Actor/comedian Robin Williams carries an ivory statue that belonged to his father. –Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin always brushes his teeth […]

Osama bin Laden’s DVR foreshadows his death

By Tom Comi After 10 years of searching for al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden by various agencies, many Americans had probably given up hope that he would ever be captured. But a lot can be determined by looking at a person’s TV-viewing habits, and the recently discovered DVR found at bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan suggests he knew the end was near. Channel Guide Magazine was able to obtain the DVR through top-secret sources*, and it turns out that the world’s most wanted man was quite the fan of American television. Here are some of the shows that he had […]

Bernie Madoff’s possessions: going, going … gone!

By Tom Comi Let’s set the record straight right off the bat: No money raised or jail time served will ever come close to repairing the damage that Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff inflicted on his victims. But there is something to be said for a little justice, and that’s what we get to see on National Geographic Channel’s Seized and Sold: The Bernie Madoff Auction (airing Wednesday, April 27 at 9pm ET). Madoff is currently in jail for his multibillion-dollar scheme that bilked many people out of their life savings and retirement plans. And although he will most likely die […]

Many Americans vow not to watch royal vows

You wouldn’t know it by all of the hype, TV coverage and endless blogs on sites like this, but a survey conducted by PriceGrabber has concluded that there is not as much interest in the forthcoming Royal wedding as some might think. It’s not to surprising that 41 percent of the respondents said they are disinterested in the April 29th wedding between Prince William of Wales and Catherine Middleton, but it does speak volumes when 77 percent said they do not plan to get up in the wee hours of the morning to watch live coverage on NBC, CBS, ABC, […]

What celebrities are saying about Elizabeth Taylor

By Tom Comi Sometimes it’s difficult to put into words the career of a screen icon like Elizabeth Taylor, so we’re not even going to try, other than to say how fortunate we were to have witnessed her great body of work. Instead, we have decided to defer to the people who knew the two-time Oscar winner and AIDS activist best. So with a nod to Twitter and several news-gathering sources (such as Yahoo!), here is what folks are saying about the late, great Liz Taylor: Elton John: “We have just lost a Hollywood giant. More importantly, we have lost […]

“The Celebrity Apprentice” is really good bad TV

By Tom Comi It would be an understatement to say The Celebrity Apprentice lacks legitimate stars, and it would be misleading to say that the contestants are remotely bright enough to ever work for Donald Trump in real life. But it would 100-percent accurate to say that the show is the kind of train-wreck television that makes it almost impossible to turn away from. I tuned in for the premiere episode Sunday night (9 pm ET on NBC) thinking I would just watch one time, and what transpired over the next two hours has me hooked for the entire run. […]

Fore! Rush Limbaugh is a force on Golf Channel show

By Tom Comi Rush Limbaugh has never really been my cup of tea (or is that tea party), more so because of his brashness and arrogance than because of his politics. So you can imagine my dilemma when I heard he was going to be the next pupil on one my favorite shows, The Haney Project on the Golf Channel (Tuesdays, 9 pm ET). The program features Hank Haney – arguably the world’s best golf instructor – tutoring celebrities on their golf game. I loved the first two seasons of the series with NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley and […]

Kathy Griffin puts “D-List” to bed

It might be an understatement to say that comedian Kathy Griffin isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, but the recent announcement that she will no longer be doing her series My Life on the D-List left me a little sad. And then I couldn’t help but chuckle a little at the irony that a show about a bottom-of-the barrel celebrity would end its run because the celebrity decided it was time. That’s right, this wasn’t Bravo’s call to end the popular reality show; it was all Griffin. “It was a tough, because I think of D-List as pretty much my baby […]
