TCA: FOX and NGC team up for Cosmos A Spacetime Odyssey

Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey — the first joint venture from Fox Broadcasting Company and National Geographic Channel (NGC) — will premiere in the U.S. on Sunday, March 9 at 9pm ET/PT on FOX and encore the following night at 10pm ET/PT with bonus footage on NGC. TCA: Andy Samberg’s The Lonely Island inks multiyear deal with FOX

Andy Samberg is on a roll! FOX Broadcasting Company has inked a multi-year deal with the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star and new Golden Globe winner’s The Lonely Island. Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez discussed upcoming projects and programming on his new El Rey Network, including the premiere date for his From Dusk Till Dawn series, today at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. Military Channel becoming American Heroes Channel in March 2014

Discovery Communications announced today that its Military Channel will be changing its name to American Heroes Channel (AHC) starting Monday, March 3, 2014. A release says that the rebranded network will “expand on the Military Channel’s promise to honor the great defenders of our freedom, while providing a rare glimpse into major events that shaped our world and the trailblazers and unexpected advocates who made a difference.” Discovery says that American Heroes Channel will feature an expanded mix of programming targeted to a primarily male audience of P25-54. Kevin Reilly, chairman of entertainment for FOX broadcasting company, took the stage today at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour to address a change in programming philosophies for the FOX 2013-2014 TV schedule and his annoyances with ratings reporting. Reilly wants to end the traditional fall and midseason mass launches of new shows and instead schedule year round. “It’s crazy that we launch 85 shows at one time,” Reilly says of the fall season.
