Megyn Kelly and Donald Trump: Together Again in FOX Special

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has a recent antagonistic history with FOX News Channel anchor Megyn Kelly, stemming back to a confrontation at a GOP debate last August. Following Kelly’s tough questioning of the candidate, especially about his sexist comments regarding women, Trump responded with some horribly misogynistic comments about Kelly, then sat out another FOX News debate in January. By the time Trump appeared at another FOX debate in March, things were a little better between the two, if still icy. But it appears the two may have become on better terms, or least amenable enough with each other […]

New to On Demand: The Witch

“Did ye make an unholy bond with that goat?” This line is among the sometimes-tricky-to-listen-to Puritan-ese spoken in The Witch that, out of context, may seem ridiculous. But within the world of writer/director Robert Eggers’ frightening film, viewers will take it in with a shuddering seriousness (a footnote to the film indicates that much of such dialogue was taken straight from source material of the time). That is part of what makes Eggers so successful in his presentation of his self-described “New England folk tale” — his willingness to fully immerse us in the world of 1630 America (or, what […]

New to On Demand: Dirty Grandpa

There are numerous genres of movies. Dirty Grandpa, starring Robert De Niro and Zac Efron, falls in the disturbingly pathetic genre — even though I found myself chuckling throughout the movie. While watching this train wreck, I kept asking myself, “Why, Bob, why?” Maybe Mr. De Niro is trying to make the point that even he can make bad decisions. Life is looking pretty good for Jason Kelly (Efron), even though his grandmother just died. He is a lawyer at his father’s firm in Atlanta. He’s getting married to his beautiful yet controlling fiancée Meredith (Julianne Hough). That’s why Jason […]

Recap: Blindspot Season 1, Episode 22 — She’s Under the Fort!

This is the last episode before the big finale, Blindspotters! And oh, baby… it was a good one. It also had babies! “If Love a Rebel, Death Will Render” kicks off with Jane (Jaimie Alexander) yelling at Oscar (Francois Arnaud) about Mayfair (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) going to jail. He says she deserves it. Jane doesn’t seem to agree, but Sofia (Sarita Choudhury) steps out of the darkness to convince her. She does that by mentioning Daylight. • BLINDSPOT recaps: Episode 1 | Episode 2 | Episode 3 | Episode 4 | Episode 5 | Episode 6 | Episode 7 | Episode […]

Jane the Virgin Chapter 44 recap: Happily Never After?

It’s the Season 2 finale of Jane the Virgin and that means it’s finally time for Jane’s wedding! Let the adventure begin! Another huge milestone in this episode: Mateo finally takes his first few steps. How convenient that he learned how to walk just in time for his mom’s wedding. Michael’s back on the force. I guess his discovery of Rafael’s mom being tied up had something to do with that. In the end, I’m glad that he’s back to his job and doing what he loves. Remember when Xo slept with Rogelio’s No. 1 enemy last week? Yeah, well Esteban wanted […]
