Matt Bomer, Tim DeKay talk White Collar Season 5 premiere

White Collar season 5 premiere Thursday, Oct. 17 on USA: Thursday is the new night for USA Network’s hit series White Collar, which returns for it’s fifth season beginning Thursday, Oct. 17 at 9pmET/8pmCT. Series star Matt Bomer says that this season — at least for his character Neal — is all about “best intentions going awry.” A statement that leads back to last season’s cliffhanger that left FBI agent Peter Burke (DeKay) and conman-turned-consultant Neal Caffrey (Bomer) in one hot mess — where Peter was accused of murdering the senator, when really it was Neal’s father (Treat Williams) who […]

Duck Dynasty recap: “Going Si-ral”

Another week, another Duck Dynasty recap of an episode with a Si pun in the title. Between that and the Si-cology book that’s out now, are we running low on these? Yeah, I doubt it, too. We start at a junkyard, where Willie and Korie are walking with John Luke to go look at Willie’s truck, which John Luke totaled in an accident. The kid’s OK, which is the important thing, of course, but Willie can’t help but wonder where he went wrong. Korie is only too happy to remind him later that he also taught Sadie how to drive, […]

7 Questions With … Pete Holmes of TBS’ “The Pete Holmes Show”

Pete Holmes believes the key to comedy, for him anyway, lies in being real. He’s fond of a quote from fellow comic, the late Bill Hicks, who said, “If you can be yourself on stage nobody else can be you and you have the law of supply and demand covered.” So you won’t hear the 34-year-old comic telling fake stories about crazy cab rides or made-up relatives during his monologues on The Pete Holmes Show, which premieres Oct. 28 on TBS right after Conan. No, the affable funnyman prefers to be himself, and he brought that honesty when he answered […]

Power outage delays new “South Park” episode

The new South Park episode originally scheduled to air tonight (Oct. 16) — Episode 1704, “Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers” — has been delayed by a week due to a power outage at South Park Studios last night, according to Comedy Central. Due to the power outage (an image from the outage is pictured below), all computers at the studios were down, so everything from animation to rendering to editing and sound on the episode was unable to be completed in time for the episode to air tonight, as originally planned. According to South Park co-creator Trey Parker, […]

Sons of Anarchy recap: “Salvage”

Blowing up the clubhouse, the main setting for nearly six seasons. That should be some season-finale shit right there, right? Not if you’re Kurt Sutter or any of the other minds behind Sons of Anarchy. Any episode can lead to permanent game-changing events, so much so that when one character almost gets killed, it can kind of feel like a cheat, or a case of the writers losing their nerve. I mean, seeing Jax (Charlie Hunnam)  and Chibs (Tommy Flanagan) walking through the charred remains of Teller Morrow in the opening moments of Episode 6 … that’s like seeing Kirk, […]

Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition Season 2 Episode 7 recap: Wicked step, mother

This week on Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition, the theme is modern fairy tales. Goldilocks here says she’s got this bad boy wrapped up because she’s a princess from head to toe. Duh. Abby says fairy tales are magical. Tiffany says they’re crap, and it’s guaranteed to be the JoJo Show. Duh. Abby says the sole prince among the princesses is going to have to work extra hard for his fairy tale ending after the stunt he pulled last week. You know, the one where he tried to remain loyal to his twin brother and Abby was all Off With His […]

“Burton and Taylor” a fitting elegy for Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton’s romance

Let’s just get this out of the way immediately: Burton and Taylor ain’t Liz & Dick. Last year’s notorious Lifetime biopic starring Lindsay Lohan was about as sudsy and over-the-top as we wanted it to be — truly, no vase was safe on that set — but now BBC America is chiming in with a much more serious, thoughtful take on the indomitable romance between Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. Where Liz & Dick was histrionic, Burton and Taylor is moody and subdued. While Lohan read her lines like she was reciting a speech, Helena Bonham Carter inhabits the role […]

7 Questions With … Vicki Lawrence of “Mama’s Family”

Vicki Lawrence has been playing Thelma Harper (a.k.a. “Mama”) for so long that she’s pretty much caught up with her in age. Yet no matter how much time goes by, Mama will still be that cantankerous, tell-it-like-it-is old lady while Lawrence, at 64, remains as youthful and vibrant as ever. Lawrence, who first played the perpetually scowling Southern matriarch in a 1974 episode of The Carol Burnett Show, has been making the rounds promoting a new, comprehensive Mama’s Family DVD set that includes the entire 1983-90 series as well as a bounty of extras sure to please fans everywhere. She […]
