Animal Planet re-airing “Mermaids” specials

Sure, Discovery Communications has likely heard the complaints from some regarding its recent trend toward programming specials that on the outside look like scientific documentaries about incredible discoveries — Mermaids! Megalodons! — but, on closer examination (and following a few seconds of rapid, hard-to-read disclaimers flashed at the end) turn out to be more fanciful “What if?” scenarios than true science. They can take those complaints under advisement and promptly ignore them, since the ratings for these shows are huge, and they will likely continue to make more of them, in addition to re-airing the ones they already created. “American Horror Story: Coven” releases another creepy teaser

The marketing geniuses at American Horror Story: Coven have released another enigmatic teaser for the FX series, which premieres Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 10pm ET/PT. Before we had a bunch of women’s bodies suspended (or hanged?) as a creepy rendition of “House of the Rising Sun” kicked in. It was only 17 seconds, but quite memorable. Here, there is some definite Salem Witch Trial imagery on display, what with the burning and the stakes and all. It’s slightly longer, at 21 seconds, but no more informative. Still no sign of Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Taissa Farmiga, […]

Last week, we finally saw the cardinal sin that poisoned the well, main-chance-pursuing producer Jerry Dantana’s selective editing of a key interview to gird the story, but Episode 7 finally revealed what the these debriefings framing this season have been all about. Throw to Don: “A producer […]
