NCAA opening-round games worth noting

Now that all the whining and bragging have subsided over who did and didn’t make the cut for this this year’s NCAA Tournament, it’s time to play some basketball. And unlike years past, some of the so-called “play-in” games could very well have an impact on things to come. Since the tournament expanded to beyond 64 teams, two teams in the past got to battle it out for the right to get blown out by one of the top teams in the country. And now that the number of teams has increased to 68 teams, there will be four games […]

ESPN BracketBusters: Who will wear the glass slipper this year?

By Tom Comi This is the weekend when the have-nots get to prove what they really have. It’s an opportunity to show they belong in the big-boy conversations. And it’s a chance for college basketball fans across the country to get a sneak peak at the unheralded teams that will shatter March Madness office pools across the country. BracketBusters weekend is an ESPN-created event that gives mid-majors (teams outside the six “power” conferences) exposure to state their case nationally and — most importantly — to the committee that will be determining which 68 teams make the prestigious NCAA Tournament. Where to watch the 2010 NCAA Tournament Final Four

By Ryan Well, we’re down to the NCAA Tournament semifinals, the Final Four. Some are calling this an underwhelming Final Four. I heard it described yesterday as “the Great Alaska Shootout.” Which, yeah, I could see that. I’m figuring that Michigan State beats Butler, since MSU has pretty much coasted through the tournament facing weak opposition. Then the Spartans just get pounded in the finals (again) by Duke. CBS has announced the airtimes for the games on Saturday, as well as a feature with President Barack Obama playing CBS analyst Clark Kellogg in a one-on-one game. From CBS: CBS Sports […]
