Held every August since 1947, the Little League World Series brings baseball players ages 11-12 from around the world to South Williamsport, Pa., to compete for the world championship. Action from Williamsport begins with the pool-play round on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 1pm ET, with Asia Pacific vs. Mexico. ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC combine to televise 32 live games Aug. 18-28. ABC airs the U.S. and International championships Aug. 27 beginning at 12pm ET, and the championship game the following day at 3pm ET. RELATED: 2012 NFL preseason TV schedule With the lockout forcing the cancellation of the Aug. 7 Hall of Fame Game, the NFL preseason now starts Thursday, Aug. 11, with the first live national TV game being Seattle at San Diego at 8pm ET on ESPN. Because NBC lost the Hall of Fame Game, the San Diego at Dallas game has been moved to Aug. 21 and will now air live on NBC at 8pm ET. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to the legendary 2.5-mile oval at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard 400, on Sunday, July 31, at 1pm ET, as top drivers Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch, Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon race for a win on the famed track. No team has posed a significant threat to Manchester United on its US tour so far. New England Revolution fell 4-1. Seattle Sounders suffered a real beating, losing 7-0. If there is anything predictable about the British Open, it’s that it will always be unpredictable. Whether it’s wind, rain, cold or a perfect storm of all three, it’s fair to say that the person holding the prestigious Claret Jug Sunday afternoon will have survived a gauntlet of obstacles.
