Getting Lost: “Meet Kevin Johnson” Review

Posted by Mike and johnnysweeptheleg Before we get started, we remind you that, like Michael, we will be going away for a while. But, also like Michael, we’ll be back — the week of April 24, when Lost returns to ABC at its new time, 10pm ET. Unlike Michael, we’ll try not to run around yelling “Walt!” at all times between now and then. Last week’s teaser trailer promised that someone would die this week. Two people did. The catch is, nobody said anything about it being someone we actually cared about. (Is anyone but Alex really going to miss […]

Getting Lost: “Meet Kevin Johnson” Preview

Posted by Mike and johnnysweeptheleg Just a quick note before we get on with the preview: This week’s episode of Lost is the last one until April 24, when ABC moves the show to its new time slot at 10pm ET. Hopefully “Meet Kevin Johnson” will give us something to think about over the five weeks between new episodes. The teaser trailer following last week’s episode told us that someone will die this week. We’re on record as predicting Claire. Or Sawyer. Maybe someone else. We’re wishy-washy like that. There are only so many characters left whose death would have […]

Getting Lost: “Ji Yeon” Review

Posted by Mike and johnnysweeptheleg To paraphrase Flight of the Conchords, “We’re not crying. It’s just been raining … on our face.” Last night’s episode, “Ji Yeon,” delivered a shocker, as we found out that Jin does not make it off the island alive. In all the frantic deactivation of poison gas, Back to the Future-esque time travel and elaborate reconstruction of crash sites, it’s easy to forget that Lost has always been a show about characters. Real people with real emotions — at least within the context of a fictional series. This season has already given us two near-perfect […]

Getting Lost: “Ji Yeon” Preview

In our last preview, we bemoaned the fact that we had been getting more questions than answers from Lost lately. That didn’t exactly change with last week’s episode, “The Other Woman.” We did knock four questions off our list while only adding two going, but that was the result of us being very judicious about what we added. Or us just being lazy. Whatever. We did get one bombshell — that we all sort of suspecting was coming anyway — when Charles Widmore’s involvement with the freighter team was revealed. We’re hoping for a few more developments this week, but […]

Getting Lost: “The Other Woman” Review

Posted by Mike and johnnysweeptheleg Ben’s in love … with the other woman. (No, that’s not the last reference we’ll make to our second favorite Ray Parker Jr. song.) But does the title of last night’s episode really refer to Juliet? Sure, she’s the other woman to that Other woman Harper. But isn’t Ben really obsessed with another other woman — Annie? If you believe Harper, he is. And why shouldn’t we believe someone whose appearance is ushered in by creepy whispers? (We realize it could be Ben’s mom whom Juliet resembles, but that would just be too creepy so […]

Getting Lost: “The Other Woman” Preview

Far be it from us to complain about the current season of Lost — it has been, in a word, awesome — but when we decided to start keeping track of the unanswered questions we had about the show, we didn’t think we’d threaten to take up all the space the Internet has to offer. Hopefully the show’s writers will throw us a freaking bone or two this week, so we can trim our list at least a little bit. But when the sneak peeks introduce a new character who we didn’t know was coming, we don’t hold out a […]

Getting Lost: "The Constant" Review

Posted by Mike and johnnysweeptheleg Constants? Variables?! Note to the makers of Lost: We had finally managed to remove the final vestiges of high-school math and science from our heads. Seriously, ROYGBIV and SOHCAHTOA were merely gibberish to us. Then you go and send Desmond on a quest to make sure his parents kiss at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance — or something like that (our memory doesn’t function well when we’re upset). But … the phone conversation between Desmond and Penny was a nice save, so you’re forgiven. Just don’t let it happen again. On with the recap. […]

Getting Lost: “The Constant” Preview

In last week’s episode, “Eggtown,” we got more questions than answers. Will the same hold true this week in “The Constant”? We’re going to go out on a limb and say, “Um, yeah, probably.” The previews seem to indicate that the episode will focus on issues dealing with space and time, and their effects on the inhabitants of the island — thus pitting our love of Lost directly against our hatred of science. Which will win out? And who the hell is Minkowski? I have a feeling that, by tomorrow morning, we’ll have answers to both. Here are the unanswered […]

Getting Lost: "Eggtown" Review

Posted by Mike and johnnysweeptheleg “You’re more lost than you ever were.” — Benjamin Linus Truer words have never been spoken. Sure, Ben was speaking to Locke when he said it, but it sure as hell felt like he was talking to us. Last night’s episode, “Eggtown,” was undeniably the weakest of the new season … which really only means that it was pretty good, not amazing. Here’s how it went down. johnnysweeptheleg’s Lost In A Moment: Remember back in Season 1, when we were all blown away by the fact that Christian Shepherd’s casket was … dun dun dun […]

Getting Lost: “Eggtown” Preview

Thursdays are always special, because they’re Lost days. But today is especially special (it’s the most specialist!), because this morning I (Mike) got to talk to the Today show’s Al Roker about Lost. Actually, I talked to him about his upcoming Spike series DEA, which premieres in April, but during the course of the conversation he revealed that he is a Lost fan, too. For the record, he loves Locke, calling him “the glue that holds the show together.” He says he’s getting tired of Ben and doesn’t mind seeing him get pummeled every week by Jack, Sawyer, Danielle or […]
