Telemundo airs Leon vs Tijuana Mexican League semifinal on Thanksgiving night

Telemundo will air the first matchup of Leon vs Tijuana in the Mexican League 2012 semifinals on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, live from coast to coast at 10pm ET. The match will be played at Nou Camp Stadium in Leon, and will be called by Andrés Cantor, with soccer expert Sammy Sadovnik offering analysis and on-field reporting by Kaziro Aoyama. Telemundo will be airing the final Mexican League quarterfinal matchup of Leon vs Cruz Azul tonight, Nov. 17, live at 8pm ET. The game will also be live-streamed at DeportesTelemundo.com. Again, Andrés Cantor and Sammy Sadovnik will have the call. Leon lost the first match of the quarterfinals against Cruz Azul by a final score of 2-1, and now look to win at home at Estadio Nou Camp. In a run-up to the Mexican soccer championship, Chivas de Guadalajara will try to unseat current league leader, Diablos Rojos de Toluca, in a quarterfinal match this Thursday, Nov. 15. Telemundo will air the match live, coast to coast, at 10pm ET. Andrés Cantor will be joined by soccer analyst Sammy Sadovnik to call the action at Omnilife Stadium in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Telemundo will present the exclusive live broadcast of the World Boxing Organization’s (WBO) Latin Featherweight Title fight between the current champion, Puerto Rico’s Orlando “The Phenomenon” Cruz (18-2-1; 9 KOs), and Mexico’s Jorge “The Ferocious” Pazos (20-4; 13 KOs) tonight, Oct. 19, at 11:35pm ET. I had been unfamiliar with the Latin American legend of “La Llorona” (“The Weeping Woman”) until compiling our list of this year’s Halloween programming. In doing so, I came upon two episodes of TV series that will feature this ghost story that apparently has deep roots in Latino culture. The legend of La Llorona tells of a distraught mother who drowned her children and then herself. Last week, Telemundo announced that it has acquired the exclusive media rights for the United States to all home games of the popular Mexican first division soccer team Club León. As “The Official U.S. Network of León,” Telemundo will have the rights across all of its platforms — broadcast, online and cable — to all of the pre-season, regular season and, if they qualify, playoff home games of the team.
