MLS and David Beckham, A Reluctant Union?

David Beckham might be playing with the Major League Soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy longer than he’d hoped. The English mid-fielder expressed an interest in remaining with AC Milan (Italy’s Serie A) after the two-month loan contract is up next month. However, the two clubs failed to reach an agreement before Galaxy’s transfer deadline on Friday.

While some see the deadline as an arbitrary tactic and a mere part of the process, others wonder what would happen if the permanent transfer actually fell through. Beckham wants to stay with Milan, but Galaxy has a $250 million, five-year contract with Beckham, of which he has played one. Will Beckham head back to the US and mope on the bench? Or will AC Milan cough up the hefty transfer fee to keep up their Beckham-inspired winning streak?

What do you think?

  1. Seeing as how this is soccer, the likely end result of the back-and-forth between the two clubs will be a tie, with nothing decided.
