Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I would just like to know if my mother is with me and my family right now. she died at home from complications from hernia surgery. they said she had a heart attack, but im not so sure….and was she in any pain.? I have just finished watching your show on TLC. The one with Stephen and his Mother. I have been reading and watching many Mediums in the past few years and am so in awe of how our family and friends come to you. I took me awhile to really open my mind to this amazing happening. Thank you for being there to help people work through very hard times. I lost my Father December 19, 2010 and have found that through my new found faith and the circumstances surrounding his passing and watching you with others, I feel at peace. Hello, i am 18 years old and I am watching your show as I write this to you. I was adopted from when I was first born along with my twin. I knew of my biological parents while I was growing up and in 2007 I got a call that my biological father had died,( meetin him for the first time was while he laid in his casket). I went to his funeral and met my biological mother for the first time, then in 2009 she passed away. I have just one question that no one can answer besides my biological parents and thats what hurts the most. There is not a day that goes by that i dont think about it. If you could get back to me and we could possibly schedule an appointment I would love that. No matter if i have to wait years that is okay, i just need that closure i feel in my life. thanks! hope to hear for you soon
I was watching your show for the first few time & I instantly thought of my father… who passed away a couple years ago. Why I always thought of him while watching your how I did not know… but do you live in Oyster Bay/hicksville? Because he LIVED there. Aparantly there is a bench in town center as a memorial to him. I thought this odd, maybe its a sign?

I lost my husband on 9/11/01-WTC. Then 5 years later I lost my Dad. My dad died quickly from an aggressive cancer, and it just didn’t hit me that he would not get better.
My husband could have gotten out of tower 2 when the 1st plane hit as he was on the 70th floor. Because he was on his company’s fire safety team and took his job seriously, he went back up to make sure everyone was gone from his floor. He never made it out.
I just miss them both so much. I think of them all of the time. I pray for them all the time too. I just wish I could know that they are all right.
