Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

My name is suzie I have alot of issues about my mom and my dad he passed away when I was 6 and was run over by a city bus going to work and my mother abanded us and let me raise my baby brother and sister we were talking when she was alive but after she died it’s like I have so much pain in my heart and I’m so angry at her for not being there and be a mother to us I just wish you would come to Canada 🙂
My Mother passed away on June 21, 2011. My granddaughter said she saw her that same day. I watched her as she asked “Mom-Mom where are you going as my grnadaugter was hugging the doorframe. She followed her in another room and she ran out and said “Mom-Mom is gone. Since then my Grandaughter got very sick with her immune sytem attacking her liver and she says Jesus brings her Mom-Mom down each night to sleep with her every night. She said she is with her at her Mother’s house and her Father’s home even when they are on vacation. She stayed all night with us 2 weeks ago and told me when she woke up that my Mother slept with us all night and had her arms around me allnight. My Granddaugter just turned 4 in February. other strange has happened in mine and my siblings lives since she passed

I have watched your show every single time possible. You have no idea how desperate I have been to find someone “REAL”, not only for me but for my daughter as well. No really mostly for me for the past 18 yrs. I truely don’t know if you are for real or not, I wish you were. If you are, I REALLY want to know how or what it would take to reach you. My situation isn’t normal or common in any way. I don’t know if you ever see or read these, but if you do, PLEASE let me know what I need to do. Thank you sooooo much for any response. Theresa – we live new Pittsburgh Pa and it is nearly impossible to get to your location. Is it possible to do a phone reading for my Husband and one for myself. His father died many years ago and my husband was only 17. He would love to know if his father is ok. My Dad went to Florida on vacation and never came back. Hi Theresa, I realize how tremendously busy you our and that there is a 2 year waiting list to receive a reading but I was wondering if there is anything at all possible that I can do to get a reading?! I saw your show on TLC and I knew that you are the real thing. I lost my brother in 2008 and my aunt in 2009 and my father before them but my brothers death was very unexpected and he was under alot of stress and hurt at the time. I really need to speak with him because he was my rock and the circumstances he was taken away I would not wish on anyone.
