Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hey Theresa I started watching your show and Im still trying to decide is this stuff real or not. If it is you have the most amazing gift. If its not then Im just wondering why lie to so many people aroung the world that has lost someone very close to them. Everyone Im sure wants to know about they love ones I know I want to know about my grandma n grandpa. Its hard moving on in life with out closure from someone you love that has passed. But hey thats everyone. Im sure your box is filled with letters just like this tryna hear from you. But again if this is real you have an amazing gift to me and Im sure everybody els thinks so to. Hi Theresa , I want to say I love your show and happy u came forward to share so many poeple need answer and I am one of them I lost my first husband I was 27 we had a 4 year old son and a baby 23 months old at the time I have been through rough times , to make my storie short I have a younger daughther that sees and feels and hears spirits I feel them see them sometime and smell them , I would love for us to meet sometime ,my youngest daugher . I told a few spirits to leave her alone and I picked up the phone and I heard a voice live it alone or leave her alone I dont know what that was about and one time I heard a voice through the wall and it said its a pleasure to be here , I was with a friend and all she heard was skweaky sound , I could go on and on , but I would like to know a few things ,I know the list is long and I am in Canada I know I wont be able to go see u I have back problems and I dont have lots of money I wouldnt be able to go for all theses reasons hope I get a repply from who ever deals with your appointments , thank you for all you do for others you have an awesome gift …

Theresa I just want you to know that I absolutely love your show and you. I think you are amazing. I am not sure how I go about getting a reading with you, but would love to have one. Dear Theresa- I just want to tell you how much I enjoy your show. I would love so much to meet with you. I lost my dad in Dec, 2010 of cancer and he died so fast, I didn’t get to absorb the fact he was sick and then he was gone. I want to make sure he is ok and watching over us. He was an amazing Dad and life hasn’t been the same without him. I am hoping you will contact me so I can meet you in person. Thanks so much!
I would love to be contacted to set up an appointment for 2013 if that’s the soonest I can experience a possible connection with my Mother. My husband has also lost both his parents a brother and a nephew at a very young age to a tragedy. So if we could have 2 appointments that would be awesome too. I hope to hear from someone with regards to this however long it takes it would be worth the “wait” in gold.

Hi Theresa, I would love to talk to you. I just lost my grandmother who raised me my whole life and I am heartbroken. She was the greatest person I ever knew and as a matter of fact the greatest person many people ever knew. She got life, lived it and did not judge. She had a 6th grade education and yet was the smartest person I knew. She touched everyone she ever met. She trurly was one of a kind. She was not “rich” and yet so “rich” in family, friends and love. Money never mattered to her, she would give you her last dime. She was a queen without a offical title. She was greatly loved by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her one great great grandchild, her family and friends. I tell people she was like Jesus- she helped the unwanted, always listened and never judged. Losing her is a loss of a best friend, a grandma, a mom, a father and a companion. I feel such a lost without her. You remind me of her- nails and hair always done. My life will never be the same, nor my families. She was my protecter. I would love to get some clarity to know if she is with me and in a better place. I lost my only child 2 years ago, he was 24 and my life has had no purpose since his passing. His father, his girlfriend, his best friend and myself are still filled with such grief because of our loss, as he was incredible. We are contacting you to see if it would be possible to contact him. I lost my mother and best friend on 4-15-2011. I would love to know that she is fine and is watching over the family. Always talk to, kiss her ring, and want to know if she especially watching over her oldest grandson and guiding him to a career. I would love to find a way to contact you regarding your gift. I was adopted as a baby and my mom (adopted) and I were never close. However, my dad (adopted) and I were VERY close and had a great relationship. He passed away after a 10 battle with cancer (Lymphoma) caused by being exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam. I miss him more than words can express and I would be eternally grateful to have any information of how to set up a time with you. I know it is a long shot, but I feel like I owe it to myself and my dad to at least ask. He was the best man I’ve ever know and he never got to see my in a happy and healthy relationship. I am now in an amazing relationship with a man my dad never was able to meet and it breaks my heart daily. I want nothing more than to know he can see me happy, for the first time in my life and want to know he is with me, proud of me, or at least sees me. He was in a coma for three weeks before he died and I have always wanted to know if he knew what I said to him the day, the moment, before he passed. God bless you for all you do for people. You truly are an inspiration.
