Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

From the moment I watched your showed I was hooked. You are an amazing!!
About 5years ago we found out my husband had cancer and let me tell you that was devastating for the whole family. At that time we did what we had to do to make him better and thank God he is fine. Two years later his sister was diagnosed with small cell cancer my husband and his sister were very close but she passed and that was devastating to all of us. Too make matters worse I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have a double mastectomy. My husband has been thru a lot and was was very close to his sister and he doesn’t believe in any of this stuff but when he saw your show he watched you and he had said to me wow she’s pretty good and the fact that you come from Hicksville also interested him also because thats where he grew up. His sister has been passed for 4 years now and I know he needs some closure . Please get in touch with us we are on the island not far from you. I need to get in touch with my sister in law.

Theresa, I just wanted to say I also tape your shows and hope TLC never cancels your shows. I believe in what you do and KNOW that my loved ones are with me always and I will be reunited with them some day. The people that need “confirmation” that their loved ones are ok or are with them everyday, don’t believe in what you do or they wouldn’t need to ask you for that. I would love to meet you someday, but I’ll probably have to wait until I’m on the other side before I get to contact you.

My daughter had been trying to conceive for 5 years and then found out she was carrying identical twin boys. At 5 months she lost them both. We all are devastated. It has been almost 2 years and would love to know if there is a baby in her future.

Hi Teresa, I can just imagine how busy you are, but I really need to sit with you. I lost my Mom and my sister within 5 months of each other. They both lived with me, and my Mom had cancer so we knew for 3 years that it was coming, but my sister died suddenly. I feel overwhelming guilt of not doing enough for both of them. There are days that I cry most of the day.They’ve only been gone a year and a year and a half. It still is so recent to me. I just feel that I need to talk to you about them. Thank you. Diane.
my fiance pasted away, and one night i saw him standing over my bed after he had shaken the top sheet that was covering me. once i woke up and looked at him he just stood there looking at me with dark lifeless eyes. i do not know what he wanted. i was angry at him for passing, he had promised never to leave me.
since then i have moved on with my life, but there is no one special in it.
