Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

My dad got killed by cutting wood and it was in his fan it came down ad hit my mom as well he died on table mom was in hospital 4 months she never was right after that did my best to help her wonder if i left any thing that could of helped her more are they trying to tell me any thing

I know that being you have a show now that things have exploded for you. You have a family which is a job in itself and now this. I have grew up in Plainedge and I am so sorry I haven’t heard of you till your show came out. I know its nearly impossible to get a reading with you. I have tried to put my name on a waiting list at Cross Roads Bar and Grill to get tickets when you go there. The site to do that has exploded and I can’t put my name on the list.. I would love it if you can , along with a million other people, lol, to put me on your list.. If I have to wait 5 years , I will wait.. You are worth it and I need to know if my brother was at peace with me when he passed. I want to know if my dad knows that he has 3 more grand children? I want to tell him I am sorry for not going in the garage to see what happened to him a little sooner. Maybe he would have lived if I had.. I want to know if he’s with my mom? they grew up together, were born across the street from each other and are 5 days apart the same age . He passed 0ver 30 years ago and my mom has never remarried!!!! I want to know if my father and brother are together? When my dad passed my dad and brother were not on speaking terms and my brother was not around when my dad passed. I am the only child left . I only had 1 brother. i want my mom to have some peace in her life. she’s 86 years old and has been widowed since she was 54 years old.. She loved my dad more then anyone and told me she could never love anyone like that . She has been alone all that time. So please Theresa , I will wait 2 ,3 4 years for an appointment with you. my heart has been broken for so long a few more years will not matter.. Thank you Theresa. Hi Theresa, like a lot of people I try hard to go on every day, but some times the pain is just to much and some one is always around me, I retreat to my room, I lost my older Bro. then my Dad then my Mom, and my husband in 04, I can never get to Long Island but just wanted to tell you. don’t know why, just smothing about you

Hi I watch your show and I am truly inspired with your gift that you have . I have lost many loved ones and friends. In including my mother and step brother . My mothers death has really played a toll on me . Being that I was 22 when she passed and did not have a lot of knowledge of medical terminology . When I was asked by the doctors to form all the different measures . I just want to know did I do right ? I feel like they took her life early .
By placing her in a nursing home . Ect … There is so much more . She was only 44 when she passed . As far as my brother I just want to know he is okay . He was 16 when he passed our family was already falling apart but that was the breaking point . There were 5 kids we went a whole year with out talking . It was just hurt and divorce of our parents . We had been a family since we were 2yrs old . And u was 15 when they split . If there is any way that you are able to help me find closure – possibly a call . I am unable to travel fincially .
