Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I have watched your show several times and this year will be twenty years since my brother passed away. Within this twenty years I have watched our family fall apart and seems to keep heading down a path of destruction. Please help us get closer. Two of my Family members passed away 5 years ago They both are very strong my figures in my life.. They are both drawing me to you.. My daughter passed at the age of 30 from cancer, she fought so hard and it was a long 4 years. She was married living in California and I am in Canada, I am having so much trouble with her passing, she was admitted into the hospital jan 2nd and I booked a flight for the next day to be by her side but got called in the morning that she passed, before going to the airport, I feel like I didn’t get to say ” l love you ” once more..I feel she was feeling alone and scared, she had so much to live for and I am having such trouble accepting, I try so hard to put on the face of being okay but my heart hurts so much, thinking she didn’t get to say good bye. I would fly to New York from Toronto, in a minute, if I could just have some time with you and know shes not suffering anymore.
Thank you for having this place to just say this even though I know your so busy and don’t expect a response…sometimes, I just need to talk.

Dear teresa, Hi my name is Brandi and Im 21 and Ive been watching your show recently and I had this feeling coming over me that is overmelming; like there is something that I must know about my relatives passing. Ive always was close to my grandparebts and my granmdmother left this world in october 2006 and that was devistaing since she was my only friend when I was lil. My grandfather passed away 5 years later in january. There was alot going on at the time of his daeth, see my mother and me dont have a relation and she didnt contract me when he died and I didnt get to go to his funeral nor say goodbye. I havent seen him in three years and I feel like that its my fault that he died because I didnt visit him when he was alive. I was born in Amityville and raised in West Islip. My dad died alone when he was 39. I am now 65 but several years ago he came and stood over me and just stared. We don’t know what happened to him..

Theresa, my family has been through a very rough year, we have two family members that we lost in 7 months, one being my Mom. I live in upsate NY, (Saratoga Springs)if there is anyway for myself and my sister to meet with you please email me.. We have had such a terrible time with her passing, not sleeping and we break into tears when we look at her picture.. My Dad also is having trouble sleeping, the week my Mom passed a wild bird (partridge) showed up at their house and has been there ever since. This bird acts like it has known us forever, some of us believe that it’s my Mom watching over us all, is that even possible? I have spoken with another medium often and in our last phone call she told me my dad had a warning for me that between the next 3mths Mar-May that something was going to turn my world upside down and leave me at a loss for words. That was the only thing she told me, but I see when you speak to people you give great details and would like to know if you can tell me anymore. I total believe in mediums but l LOVE the details you give. I have only been given bits and pieces to connect a puzzle I have no clue where to start.
