Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Your new website did not work. My friend & I would like to have a phone reading with you, as we live in Louisiana. I would love to meet you and do it in person, but not sure because of the expense. My father of 81 saw your show on Dr. Oz and was amazed at what you knew. I would so much like for you to email him or call as he lost his wife of 51 years. He just wants to know she is o.k. and will be there for him when it is time. He is a retired fireman of San Leandro and was a captain. He was also in Navy while young. Dear Theresa, I suddenly lost my fiance december 2011. We were together since 2007 and had a wonderful life and future. He was my soul…He was on his way to the dr. and fell outside dr office with a blood clot that burst and caused a heartattack. I feel so much guilt..it’s sometimes unbearable because i didn’t go to the dr. with him that day. He was going for a “swollen” foot..nothing else. I am tormented every day that i could not hold him..there is alot more to this story as he was going thru a divorce. It would be such a privlege to talk to you. Sincerely Rosie

My Dad passed away 17 yrs ago from brain cancer while I was holding him and rubbing his head in the hospital. I want to know if he’s okay. My granny passed away after I moved to another city (5 hours away). Granny was waiting for her 2nd leg to be amputated when I moved and I want to know if she is okay as well. My mother passed away 15 yrs ago and I recently had a nice dream that we were walking arm and arm down a street. Theresa, this morning on the way to check the mail, a bird flew over my head and into my livingroom, iv heard tales that a bird flying into someone’s home is a sign of bad luck in health or even death?
