Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Im 18 years old and my Boyfriend of a year was killed by a drunk driver almost 4 months ago.I was with him literally 5 min before he died, we had dinner after he got off work and that was the last time i saw him. I am contacting you in regards to my mother. I fear for her each and everyday. My mother made a promise to a family member that passed away and I know that she is doing everything in her power to fullfill this promise but in the same instance she is literally killing herself over it. I don’t feel that she has moved on, as many of us havn’t, but I don’t know what to do to give her the peace that she needs, more than the rest of us. I’m asking for any help that I can receive to make my mother know that it is okay for her to live her life before it is too late for her.

I lost my father in 2006 and my grandparents the following year. Then in 2008 I lost my brother in a tragic accident. My father left the estate in a lawyer’s hands and we are now getting screwed by the lawyer by him legally stealing money from us. I would like to know what they are doing now, my family has been suffering over the last few years. If you could find it in your heart and soul to help us get through this it would be world changing.
Hi Theresa,My Best Friend Nicholas had passed away over the summer in a hit in run and i’ve had a really hard time dealing with it,there was just so many things left unsaid.I’ve watched your show every week and you just amaze me.I would love it if it is able to have session or something.
in the last 4 years had 4 terrible losses.they were all sudden and one was very ill.besides my self i actually got very sick over this from all the stres that i lost all my hair and my body broke down. I 3 years ago i was actually your neighor around the block and had to move out of my home because of my illness.the most recent loss was my dad.in three months he had congestive heart failure then 2 days out of hospital passed out behind the wheel of his car and totaled it 2 houses down from where we live.at that point he had to get a pace maker put in. 2 weeks after that they found that he had eumonia i took him to drs.appt because they wouldnt let him drive.he was oxegyn machine 1st for whenevr he felt the need then it went to 24hrs everyday. he also had a lung disease but dr said he cant get rid of that but he will be around for alot longer.well in january 6 he passed away in his bedmy mom and i had the horrible exoerience to find him. he was a teacher at westbury high school for 40 yrs. then went to st archbishop molloy high school for ten.he was so loved and was literally a legend that they closed the school down for his funeral because all the students and faculty wanted to attend.it was amazing.my da d was sarcastic like i am and 2 nights before he died we were sitting at kitchen table and we were talking about god forbid he passes i told him” pop if that happens they will have to shut down post ave” and he said oh stop no one will show up…but i hope he saw the outpour of the love for him that they shut down a high school. he was so loved and we were so proud .if any one that you ever read if he doesnt come thru then ..he was the spotlight every where he went..so i hope one day you can make time for me.thank you.until then
hi Theresa, my fiance caleb passed away july 11,2011 i watched ur show & cryed when you go to people and tell them about the people that had past and let them know the spirit has a message and u are sent to tell them.. its awesome i wish i had the ability to see and talk to caleb again.. I have a one year old daughter with caleb name sadie her birthday is july also, i sometimes wonder if he is in the room cause she says daddy an points and reaches as if he was there
Hello Theresa, my mother Bonny passed on last year (Aug 2nd, 2010) The hospital called and I was just a couple of minutes late. She died alone. I have not been able to forgive myself for not being there holding her hand when she passed. She never let me down and always made sure nobody was ever left alone. I’m not sure what I want so please just tell her my daughter and I miss her. Her real name was Yvonne but everyone called her Bonny. Born Jan 23, 1938. Thank you so much.

Please help, my mom and her twin sister were adopted 54 years ago from greece they were brought over here, My mother and aunt had finally after 49 years found here real mom and brothers. I want to know if there biological dad knows about them and knows if they family is all connected, he had past away in 1996 he never got to meet them. I was also wondering about kids and me. I would love to know as well if my poppie is happy that his daughters finally met the there mom. I live in a different state then you but would love the chance to meet or talk with you over the phone.

I just watched an episode of your show and cried the whole time. You have a beautiful gift. I have lost my mother at the age of 16 and my boyfriend has lost his best friend 4 years ago. We frequently visit Long Island. My boyfriend has family there. I would love for my boyfriend and I to meet with you because he needs closure. I can see and feel sometimes that he needs something.
