Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I emailed u b-4 regarding my Dad being a retried fireman in San Leandro, CA and would like for you to see if my Mom has any words to state. Her name was Arline and being a church person and loving person my Dad needs to know she is alright. Please rspond as he is going to be 82. Theresa…When I was younger, child to young adult, say around 23 or so, I would see balls of light fly through the air at night, wherever I would be sleeping. I also would awaken, and see people at the end of my bed…needless to say, very freaked out until I started reading about this in the last few years. I havent had those experiences anymore, but have had things fall off the wall…de ja vu feelings. How do I tap into those things, i would love to talk to my deceased sister, and have some kind of sign shes heard me. How do I do that? I try to be open, but feel there is something in the way of that. Thank you for any input, as I can imagine how busy you are.

Hi, I think I have the same gift but have not figure out how to develop it. I need help, before 9/11 I had a weird experienced.
We have lost many loved ones, but recently, we lost my Mom, unexpectedly, and we are having a hard time moving forward. She was our heart soul and kept us all going. We know that you could help our family heal.
My mom passed 1992 and my dad immediately remarried. He passed away in 2004. Our lives were never the same after he married my step mother. I am wondering how he feels about me and my mom how she feels about Daddy remarrying. I am so devastated about the stroke my mom had last August. I really would love to be able to schedule a phone reading. I would like to be able to communicate with my dad who passed away almost 20 years ago. I would like to know what I can do to help my mom and I need to know if my mom will ever recover. Being gay added to the intense experiences that I had. I was extremely close to my Mom’s Mother. She died when I was 10. She has never really gone. Every now and then she will be in my dream. We will sit at the kitchen table and just talk. I wake up feeling as though we had visited. She did come to me when she died. She was standing at the end of my bed surrounded by a mist. I slapped myself because I thought I was still asleep. She smiled and said she would never let anything bad happen to me. As I crept to the end of the bed she just slowly went away.

We purchased our house almost two years ago and the former owner died about a year before we bought the house (his widow sold the house to us). He did’t actually die in the house (or so we were told), but I see flashes of light, swift white shadows and strange noises. If you’re ever down this way (The Woodland’s TX – north of Houston) It would be a dream come true to meet you (you could film it!! 🙂
