Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

my wife and i lost our 23 old daughter aug 15th 2010 we were out of town when she was taken to the hospital an prenounce dead. we live in tennessee an thought about getting an apointment(if possible) and bring my wife to see you, my wife is very depressed and i thought you my help! thank you steve- god bless
My youngest brother was murdered in New Orleans in 2006, after staying in the City before during and after Hurricane Katrina…He worked for a very reputable Hotel chain and was a victim of a carjacking… My family has had no closure, and nothing but the “run around” from authorities. He was a hard working 29 year old young man, with a promising life that was taken to soon. I would give anything to meet you and see if you can contact him. I have not been close to my mother before she past away. we was start to get close right before my first grandchild was born. now I have been so depressed for 12 years. and now both of my daughter have been sick one have cervix cancer and other has rare lupus. Theresa,hello,2 things I need to talk to you about.I think our house is haunted.And I want to know if both my Nana’s are okay!!!!before I got the call from my mom letting me know that my Nana Bennett was dead she came to me in a dream the night before.I always felt that I had some type of six sense of things.I am by far not a disbeliever but not really sure if I have some type of gift.I have had an ex’s mom enter me and give me short of breath.

I think what you do is wonderful, you help so many people, I hope someday that I can be lucky enough to talk to someone that could help me. Hello Theresa I have been debating wether to contact you but I feel that this maybe the only way to save my aunt. She lost her son who was like a brother to me. Since his passing she has not been the same person and I think if she had some closure from knowing he is ok it might just get her out of the dression she has let take over her life.
