Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hi Theresa, My name is Amy and I don’t trust any medium but you. I watch your show and I see how you can change a person life cause I see you speak the truth. I need help desprately. I lost my grandfather when I was 16 and that’s when my world crashed cause then I started getting into really bad drugs and my life went spiralling down. I met my son’s father and we both went into rehab and got better. We had a son, but then here’s somemore bad news, he went back to drinking and doing drugs again and I had to leave him. When my son was a year and a half I came home to some more really bad news. My sons father had died in a hotel and I still don’t know what happen and this was in 2008. All that man really wanted was a son, well he got one and then he was gone. Please help me from my misery so I can move on in my life. PLEASE!!!

Theresa, i lost my grandson jose 2 years ago, he had a rare heart condition, he was waitting for a heart transplante when he passed. i was on my way tot he hospital to see him when they called me on the phone to tell me he passed, something that morning was making me feel like i really didn’t want to go that early so i was taking my time, i began driving and all of a sudden i felt very, very weak and felt like my soul was drained out of me, i felt like i was going to pass out, so i asked my daughter to drive she did and i sat in the back seat, soon as she began to drive, the doctor call me to ask how far i was and said i called you to tell you jose has passed. i screamed, my whole world crashed that day. i felt like i died with him, i need to know jose is not mad at me for taking my time and not being there with him when he passed, his mom and dad was with him, theresa i need to know he is not scared, he is not alone, and that is with me somewhere. please my mom is having such a hard time dealing with this she goes to the grave every day even in rain ,snow anything and she reads him books for about and hour, we change his flowers for every season and holiday. we began a huge toy drive for childrens hospital boston in his name, that is where he spent the last seven months of his life. also his 5th birhday. all the nurses would fight over who was going to take care of him that day. Theresa please help me , i feel like my grandson is trying so hard to talk to me, but i can’t get him to come through, i feel it. hope you can help me. thank you for your time, Ps.I loved the show that you and your family donated time cooking and serving food. I watch your show all the time and I would love to meed you. I have some many loved won’s that have passed and I am at a stand still because I want to know that they are happy and okay. My cousin passed at the age of 25 from cancer, my aunt passed 7 years ago from cancer, my grandmother pasted from altimeters and my grandfather past two months after.
Before my cousin died she told me she would come back as a butterfly and every day they land on me or follow me around. I’m sad all the time, I talk to them all the time but I know that you can bring me peace. I live in Hutto, Texas and was born in New York. Can you help me?

I recently lost my Pit Bull Kenya and cant get passed it. When I see Petie I think of my dog who was the best dog you could ever ask for. She loved her chicken too.
Missing her so much. She was replaced by Pandora our new dog and I just don’t feel the same yet. I love Pandora and my bonding will take a little while.

I must tell you that my grandson, when he was approx. 3-4yrs old, told his family that before he came here(on earth), he was taken care of by his mothers father and his fathers grandmother. Hey Theresa, First would like to say my mom and I love watching your show. What you do for people is so wounderful and you have such an uplifting personality. Hi Theresa, I lost my daughter in 2006 I was almost at my 7month mark and I went into labor , she did pass away i didn’t know what to expect when they asked me if I wanted to hold her ,I was so scared and I refused …I do have a 8 year old son and now a 4year old daughter….
