Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I have been watching your show tonight. I have lost my grandpa 7 years ago and just have seen things that i would like to know if they maybe him or someone that he maybe with.I was gone the day my grandpa died and never really got to tell him bye. I talk to him all the time and sometimes feel like his here but i just dont know. we also lost my boyfriends dad and just want to know that hes ok and to let my boyfriend know that he is ok and he has no reason to worry…

i have a sister that is 62 years old and her son took a overdose in 2007 and she can not move on she goes to the cemetary everyday and cries all the time i also lost a son in 2001 and i feel like i have moved on i know we all grieve in diffrent ways but i feel like if she could just talk to you and maybe get some answers it was a very bad situation and she would really like to know exactly what happened please try to help her thanks annette

I lost somebody very close to me and didn’t get the chance to say goodbye or just to touch him one more time,I’m so hurt and I’m having such a hard time accepting his passing and just would like to know if he’s ok and why he passed.
Theresa, I am writing in regards of my friends son. He had a best friend of 18 years that committed suicide with a shotgun. Being an EMT he was the first on the scene. That was about two years ago and he still cries and is extremely angry. He believes in God and can’t understand why he is not getting any answers. It has affected his life to such a degree that his mother fears he might do something foolish. He started counseling for trauma victims but isn’t finding any solutions. He solution has been to drink to forget the visual. I assume it also helps he cope the “whys” of the situation. His mother and I think that if he heard from his friend maybe that would get him out of the depression that consumes him. Please help…..he needs to get to a place where his life is of purpose. Of course this event changed the rest of his life but if he could get to a place where he could move ahead with life and see life is a journey and this is a huge hole in the road. where do we go to help him?

Please contact me for a meeting. I live in new jersey. My 7 yr old daughter told me she can speak to spirits. She says they come to her ask her questions or tell her things. Sometimes she can physically see them. Shseesaw spirits of passed people that I did not know existed until I started asking family members questions. I am concerned because I can sense a spirit and whether it’s male or female. I actually had a spirit whisper in my ear tha it was protecting us. We also had a small child’s voice call my younger daughters name in my car radio. I am actually getting a bit uncomfortable in my own home. I sense an evil presence in my home as well. I had a remote to my tv thrown, it is hiding things that were in plan site. There’s a lot going on here. I am concerned for my child because after hearing the child s voice come over the radio I totally believe she has a gift.

I don’t even know how to summarize all of this into one short message. I am 21 years old and my brother was my best friend, he passed away 3 years ago. My mother has been to many “fake” mediums and even went to AC to see you. She is a nurse and feels responsible even though it was a suspected heart arrythmia that was undetectable. Since then a lot has happened in my life, my father was fired from his job because of all his “baggage” from doing CPR on my dead brother in our driveway right in front of me. My family has also started a non-profit for veterans in my brothers memory. If I could have anything in the world, besides my brother, I would like my mother to feel some closure. My family will never be the same but I feel that if we knew my brother was safe that some of our guilt would subside. Thank you for your time and anything that you could do to help us would be more than appreciated.

Teresa I hesitate in writing this email and I do believe in god gift to you. My grandson passed at 18 months and I would like to know if he is with my mom and father. I really am not sure what happen to cause his death but I blame my self what could I have done differently the last day I when I spoke with when he died. Could you help me for a better understanding.
Dear Teressa, my daughter and i both need closer on loveones that have died. My daughter carry’s a lot of pain and i am at a loss with the pain that i carry. I can never afford to pay to get closer nor can my daughter but maybe you can find a way to help I am not sure how but I pray somehow. My daughter is up visiting me from tennessee for the holidays and the Holidays will be very hard for both of us. My heart goes out to u. Some times I feel so lost and sometimes I feel I understand and other times I feel like I don’t . Do u feel that way?
I have really enjoyed watching Theresa on the show. My mother and father passed away and I miss them terribly and think of them everyday so it is great seeing how Theresa is able to connect others to their lost loved ones. I feel great hope that my parents are able to see myself and their grandchildren from the otherside.
